Amory is a romantic who, deep down, despises WWI and the tough life decisions he must make.Reviewed in the United States on 14 November 2020
This is a beautifully written first novel by one of our best American writers. Its imagery and philosophical depth are outstanding, as well as the vivid picture it paints of a well-to-do young man, ivy-league educated and privileged, as he loses his fortune after returning from the war. His life takes a tumble when he loses his mother and a beloved mentor while becoming frustrated with the ambitious, independent young ladies he is attracted to. Amory’s journey to maturity and self-understanding keeps the reader in awe of Fitzgerald’s seductive writing and introspective point of view.

An excellent read.Reviewed in the United States on 26 January 2019
Fitzgerald is a good read knowing most of this book reflected his life of trials and tribulations.

Not impressed with what this book had to say.Reviewed in the United States on 17 August 2020
This is a classic so I'm supposwd to like it. I've read a lot of classics and love good writing such as Tolstoy and Hemmingway, but this was a disjointed jumble. I didn't find it to be of enough value to waste my time finishing it. When you read about Fitzgerald's life, he was lucky to have made some money selling some books, because he was a mess.
Now I remember why I hated reading in schoolReviewed in the United States on 24 November 2020
Just as I stated in the title. Not my idea of a good read, but I guess that's why there's a cast variety of books to read.
Poor qualityReviewed in the United States on 25 May 2021
I was disappointed to see that it was a magazine size book. I thought it was a paper back.Very awkward to hold.
