Bought these shoes, put them on, walked around the house a bit, and had a bad scuff from nothing at all that I could tell I did. The leather is soft, too soft. These are great shoes, but they will look like crap pretty quick.
I have worn these boots every day at work for a little less then 6 months, they are definitely not worn out but they are more worn then I would have hoped for a pair of work boots. The leather is very soft and as others have said the sole of the shoe is made of that spongy rubber not the hard, heavy-duty rubber that most boots have. The only real problem i have encountered so far is that the leather on the toe has many deep gashes in it due to the steel toe; even lightly catching our toe on something hard will tear into the leather because it gets smashed between the the steel and whatever you hit.
These shoes are great. I have purchased many pairs. I usually get 6 months of daily use out of them. The toes shred like mad though if you work in crawl spaces. The two protection is inadequate. I used Tuff Toe on the last pair I bought and it made a HUGE difference. I wish they came with a protector for the toes out of the box.
This is my 2nd pair - the first lasted almost three years, and I wear them out on a loading dock, yard, etc. The black rubber began to wear near the toes, but again: this is after wearing them 50-75% of the days and to be expected. The safety toe is effective and protective, yet light and not ice cold as some old steel toes used to get this time of year. I would not buy any other brand of work shoe or boot.
These shoes are basically a cut off set of boots. Initially they rubbed against the bottom of my ankle which was uncomfortable, but they soon broke in and I got used to them. They wore well for a few months, but the insoles began to show wear in about 6 months. When they were pulled out the bed under them looked like cracked concrete that is ready to start coming out. I'm disappointed in their durability. I bought Timberland shoes to get high quality shoes that I expected to be high quality and durable. The soles still look like new, but the inside is a different story.
My husband needs steel toe safety shoes at his job and these shoes are the best he's ever worn. This is his third year of wearing them and they last about six months since he stands on concrete at a printing plant. He has to order twice and year and it works out perfect for what he needs. Wish he would have found them sooner! Best work shoes for men ever!
It's a good shoe. I have been getting this particular shoe for the last 5 years. My only problem is they like to eat the heels of my socks. I go through a lot of socks. Kinda weird because every shoe (3 of this shoe) does it.
