How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short Boots
Reviewed in the United States on 15 April 2019
Size: 11 US WideColour: BlackVerified Purchase
These fit as expected and are comfortable to wear all day. With the alloy toe they are also light weight which is important with a low top to not feel like you are wearing clown shoes. I bought a wide width in these because I have wide toes. You can't break in metal! With the wide width I have room for my toes but my heal slides around. I solved that in these and other sarety toe shoes by putting in heal cups. My one complaint about these is they seem to be built like boots and are quite bulky and hard to drive in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, comfortable work shoe. Wish it was a little lighter.

Felt great from the git-go. Nice leather. Flexible. Feels broken-in. The sole seems durable...but I would like it lighter. Wish it was available without the toe guard. Still, appears to be a good bang for the buck. Like their Pro line. Yes, it’s more money, but worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trying Shoes instead of boots
Reviewed in the United States on 11 March 2014
Size: 11 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
My husband always buys the Pro Series steel toe work boot. Since summer is coming, he wanted to try steel toe shoes to see if they would be cooler to wear. We shopped our local shoe store "Super Shoes" and researched price online. Amazon pricing was $26 less and shipping was free with my Prime membership. Although he loves the Pro Series for comfort, the boots themselves have an issue with the sole cracking in the bend of the foot beneath the toe. Every pair he has had have done this. So, he gets about a year out of them. The steel toe shoe is not quite wide enough on top of the foot, even in the wide. The wide width is mainly in the toe area on these shoes. The boots are wide on top of the foot also probably because they lace further down the foot than the shoes.

4.0 out of 5 stars safety shoe
Reviewed in the United States on 4 January 2013
Size: 12 USColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
I think the quality and the feel of the shoe is very good. I'm an engineer in a manufacturing company. I'm required to wear the safety toe shoes. I bought these because they looked as if they resembled a casual dress shoe. I wanted something to go with my slacks and button down shirts that would not stand out.

The shoe works well in my environment. It is most comfortable.

I would like people to know the color is a much lighter brown than in the image. (Not much of an issue at this point - really.)

The only thing i was a little disappointed in is the shoe looks more like a boot than a casual dress shoe. That is probably my fault. It just looked like similar "dress safety shoes" I have purchased in the past. Some things need to be bought in person I guess.

I don't want that to detract from the fact it seems to be a good product. (I'm only in my second month with them.)

The finish is between a polish and a flat, weird; looks good with blue jean and odd with dress pants. Shoe is excessively stiff and hard. Sizing is off, I usually wear a 13 narrow. The 13 is waaay to big. Returned for a 12, much better, still too wide, needs to add an arch support; fits as expected though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for working in structural steel shop...
Reviewed in the United States on 19 March 2019

My hubby spends alot of time on his feet daily in a structural steel shop. He says they are comfortable, and enough room for his bunions. Liked them so much bought another pair recently. He used to buy Redwing for years but likes these better, they are less expensive. I think they last longer, actually, he got nearly a year out of them. YMMV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overall boot
Reviewed in the United States on 19 March 2014

This was a great pair of boots, they felt just like a normal pair of boots without the added weight that regular 6 inch version would give. The fir was true and the break in period was not very long at all. The only issue i had with my pair was a manufactures defect in the bedding of one of the shoes. it was like walking on a bubble near the front of my foot and it never fixed itself during break in. I am sure this was an isolated issue and would be very uncommon to run across again. The only other thing with this boot that i did not like , and it was more of a personal preference and not really an issue was that the leather itself was very stiff and rigid.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little too bulky and heavy for what I wanted
Reviewed in the United States on 8 August 2019

The extra wide size seems to fit me out of the box. Wide sizes vary from Mfr. to Mfr. and sometimes I find myself swimming in some while others are just right. They appeared to be more of a dress shoe from the pictures, but they are actually serious work shoes and a little too bulky and heavy for what I wanted. They will work as I'm not always required to wear them.

4.0 out of 5 stars DEGRADED PRODUCT
Reviewed in the United States on 28 August 2019

I purchased this particular shoe for the last 9 or 10 years. The last shoe was three months old and the leather started separating from the sole in just three months. I purchased this pair as a replacement until Timberland processes the warranty. I was surprised to see the laces which are very heavy duty are no longer provided with the shoe. Its the same laces you can purchase in Walmart. I was very disappointed and called Timberland and suggested i return the shoe.....REALLY! I guess Timberland started making changes to save money and its becoming apparent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered!
Reviewed in the United States on 22 January 2014
Size: 11 USColour: BlackVerified Purchase
I work in a restaurant environment and am on my feet for 8, 10 or more hours per day. So I was searching for shoes that provide both a high level of comfort and support. I've only worn these shoes for about a week now, but I like what I'm feeling. They were a bit stiff at first, but now that they are loosening up I forget that I have them on. Me feet and arches no longer ache when I get home after a long shift. I did supplement this shoe by adding a Dr. Scholl's gel insert, but that's it. If your feet and arches ache from standing all day long, these are the work shoes that you have been looking for.
