How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scratches and chips easily. Timberland quality control is terrible
Reviewed in the United States on 13 January 2022
Size: 9 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
I've bought like 4 pairs of these because they fit my work needs. I just HATE the fact the "leather" chips and scratches so easily. You barely bump into anything and these shoes start to look like crap. No matter how careful you are they will do this. I can take my finger and press hard on them (just the skin, no nail) and it will scuff them. I would happily pay more for higher quality / more durable leather. Other than that, I've bought and returned so many different pairs of Timberland shoes and boots and it's just sad how bad Timberlands quality control is. You can see it in the stitching. If you buy 3 pairs of the same shoe, each shoe will feel different and there's a good chance each shoe will have different defects in the workmanship you can actually feel. Shouldn't they be defect free and all the same? Almost every pair I buy has major comfort crippling defects. I typically send back 3-4 pairs before finding a pair with defects I can live with. I almost had to send this pair back because the top of the inside of the shoe was sagging down onto my toe on the right shoe making it uncomfortable. Luckily when they wore in, it resolved the problem. I wish I could find a different brand that carries a oxford style boot that way I can stop supporting Timberland. Timberland is one or the only brands that is selling to the marker of people looking for multiple specific styles but they cater to this market with poor quality control. If another company comes along and ticks all the boxes of comfort, durability, quality, style, and price, they could take a large portion of business from Timberland.

4.0 out of 5 stars Appears to be of good quality

Leather seems of good quality as does the finish. On first glance it appears to be of better quality than Red Wings I used to pay $30 more for. We will see how well they last.
Update: No break in necessary.
Could use slightly longer laces. A little difficult to double knot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good all around work shoe for around the house
Reviewed in the United States on 11 August 2020

I wear a 9 and a regular width fits too snug so I ordered a wide in this shoe and it fits great without being too loose.
Took about a week for the rim to loosen up and not rub my ankle. But fits great after some heavy use.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st time safety toe shoe.

Have had Timberland Pro series shoes before. They have always fitted and worn well over the years. Best work shoes I've had. This is 1st pair of safety toe so went with wide width anticipating the toe area to be tight. They fit perfectly. Recommend the brand to friends and colleagues.

1.0 out of 5 stars Crack in the sole
Reviewed in the United States on 11 November 2018
Size: 9 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
Hubby has had a pair for less than 2 years, wears them 1 or 2 days a week at an office job which requires safety toe because he occasionally goes on the manufacturing floor. The sole has cracked along one of the lugs and with winter and wet weather approaching, they will be useless to him. Other than that, he says they are very comfortable.

1.0 out of 5 stars They used to be the best wearing shoes I could buy
Reviewed in the United States on 13 December 2013
Size: 9 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
I have bought several pairs of these shoes for work over the last 10 years. They used to be the best wearing shoes I could buy. But this pair and the last ones I bought (last year) are both the worst feeling new shoes after a few hours in them. I thought maybe I just got a bad pair last year, and decided to try again. But I think these are even worse on my feet than any I've had. I won't buy another pair of Timberland shoes for work. It feels like you are walking on the concrete without shoes on. My feet hurt worse than ever.
