This is my 2nd one as I was so impressed with the 1st 1 that I bought.
It's quite cheap & it's really good at it's job of moving data back & forth on your memory cards.
This reader will be perfectly capable for the majority of users out there & should near enough max all your cards out at about 100Mbs +/- with DL's & UL's... If you have faster than 100mb/s cards & need that extra speed then I'd advice paying more & investing in the newer protocol Card readers but they're quite a bit more expensive by a long way.
My cards are all U3 90/100 mbs ones so I'm happy enough with the speeds this little reader supplies to them as it maxes them out 99% of the time.
Nothing bad to say on this product as it does exactly as it claims at a relatively cheap price too.
Buy 1 ! unless you need Uber Quick Speeds ;)
After trying several cards I managed to find one that was a slightly better fit and after a few minutes managed to coax the other cards in too.
These are fairly well built but do flex a little as you pinch them, the cap latches nicely so isn't going to fall off.
You do need to observe which way your USB slot is oriented because full size SD cards will need clearance, you could always get a USB 90 degree adapter though.
It will only operate with 1 card inserted at a time.
The usb ID is: 8564:4000
The photo shows a benchmark using the Transcend 64GB Premium SDXC Class 10 UHS-I 300x Memory Card
Vielen Dank an Transcend !

...But not being overly familiar with SD cards, and their variations, I opted for the wrong one, in that my desktop PC card reader couldn't read SDXC cards which are formatted in exFAT, even though my more recent laptop could.
This solved all problems though, as straight out of the packet, I put the SDXC in this, plonked it in my older desktop (USB 2.0 hole), and it was then usable on this, and all my kit.
I can now even use the SD card on my TV, DVD PVR, and anything with a USB hole.
It is USB 3.0, but, as you'd have discerned from the above, works on the older USB 2.0, and even gives this a little boost in performance (As much as USB 2 can be).
Very cheap and convenient fix as an alternative to sending back "the wrong card" for exchange.
It was well packaged and this is the first packaging I have seen where the backing card had perforations which made it 100% quicker and easier to open. The drive itself also had protective plastic on.
It installed quickly upon first plug into my Windows 8.1 64bit PC and I was able to instantly transfer files through a MicroSD card and its SD Card adapter.
Time will tell if its reliable but its a brand I like. The unit is bigger than USB drives from a few years ago but not overly cumbersome.
Overall, its impressive and recommended.
Four stars because of the test of time. Overall, impressive.
In summation then, this is a good economical card reader that does a good job.
There are a few negative comments about longevity. I've had this one for about a year now, in use several times a week during that time (I use it at work for writing firmware images to SD cards in routers, as well as photographic applications), and it's still going strong. But quite frankly, even if it only lasts a year or so, at £6 I'm really not that bothered.
I had bought it because at the time I was solely working on my desktop PC. My PC did not have any ports for putting in SD cards or anything similar, so i really needed it.
It arrived quickly through prime (of course) and is actually really good and easy to use (I don't know how it would be difficult to use but i'm just making it clear that it is a good product). It reads all cards and they show up on the computer quickly. The USB 3.0 is also a great bonus because of the fact that it makes uploading images to your computer much faster, brilliant for the price i may add.
The only downfall this product has is that any time i tried to put multiple SD cards in the card reader and then plug it into my computer, either none or only one would show. Maybe this is just a fault of my one and I don't really mind having to keep changing the SD cards, it isnt that much of a bother, but it does get a bit tedious. Oh well.
All is well!
Ive had it for a couple of months and its still going great.
Without doubt these are the most solid transfer rates of any USB3.0 adaptor I have used to date. The unit is well made with a lid that clips solidly in place (something a lot of manufacturers need to learn).
I bought this with the express reason to load Windows 10 builds onto client PC's and I was astounded as to how quickly this did the job.
By way of note, I was using a Class 10 Samsung Evo MicroSD card but have tried various brands of SD/MicroSD cards and I have found none that are incompatible.
This time I've opted for a branded USB card reader which is much faster and working fine so far.
I will update this review if it fails later on, but at least it comes with a 2-year warranty (unlike the non-existent warranty on the "Integral SD" cards).
+ Super fast if your PC supports the USB 3.0 standard.
+ Good price.
+ 2-year warranty.
All I need to do now is set 'iPhoto' as the default library because 'Photos' is total rubbish.
