I received the TCP50 kit initially by mistake, which has the UMAX50 trailer lock (made of die-cast material), and even though the material is of lesser quality and strength compared to the UMAX100, the UMAX50 fit nice and tight to my trailers 2" receiver; both ball and "U". I recommend getting the TCP50 kit based on my experience. At the end I kept the TCP50 kit and returned the TCP100.
L'anneau semble solide malgré le fait que le boîtier cosmétique est fait de plastique. Je le croyais en acier... Pratique une seule clé fait pour tout sauf que chaque élément vient avec 2 clés. Donc on se retrouve avec 6 clés identiques...
Bought this set for my new trailer, ended up with SIX keys, each item came with a pair. So I have more keys that I really know what to do with.
Love it, it feels nice and secure and gives me that peace of mind knowing my $35,000 investment isn't going to roll away.
- Nice and solid construction
- Heavy duty locks
- Came with 6 (yes SIX) keys
- No so far. Seems like a solid purchase!
Everything you need
Tough and sturdy
But remember it will only keep honest people from stealing your stuff
The other items looks good but not super quality.
Trimax will sell one direct with a lock keyed to the same number as whatever you get in the kit. However they charge more and there is also a shipping cost of $12 from Trimax. Amazon does sell the extended pin lock for $15.http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QB5G62/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought one of those and am using the lock end from the one in the kit with the new extended pin. The short one, now with the mismatched key will go to the next garage sale. That is cheaper than buying matching keyed alike pieces from other vendors.
Edit: I should have edited my review sooner, but just came across it by accident and wanted to provide the details of what came next. I was able to contact the manufacturer and they requested me to send the entire set back to them, and that they would send me a replacement set. I was a little irritated at having to send it all back, since I bought it for security, and this meant leaving the trailer vulnerable. However, I did what they asked, and they did what they said. I don't know what the date was of my original review, but we are probably somewhere around 18-24 months later now, and I'm still using the same set without the issues! The one piece that permanently locked to my truck and had to be cut off... that piece only goes on when I'm towing my camper now. If the expensive weight distribution hitch is not on the truck, I don't use a locking piece there anymore. It's definitely a 3.5, maybe a 4 star product, now that it works!
So it is now a few days later the new package has arrived and all of the locks are keyed alike and on the truck and trailer exactly as originally advertised. I would give the product 5 starts but the fact that a defective lock was shipped and passed their quality control is an issue that they need to review.
