Unwashed jean in raw 21-oz selvedge denim featuring button fly and discreet rivets
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The denim is a uniform slightly tighter weave that does feel a little stiff until broken in when compared to other heavy weight jeans. After a month or so of wears they are showing nice royal blue crease lines with a few white spots starting to peak through. The stitching on the top button ripped from the top button hole, but it hasn't progressed any further and seems like it will be fine even without repair. other than this small problem the jeans are great and an easy way into heavy jeans.

I have been a big UB fan and own a couple of pairs already. I ordered these during Amazon's denim sale @50% off. I have never worn 21oz denim, but I like my jeans bulletproof, so I was excited to try them. The fabric is truly THICK. If you can imagine jeans made from corrugated cardboard, this would be one step away. For me, not a problem, since I am willing to work for months to get the right soft and molded fit. For others, though, it might be a much. What earned these a single star, however, was the poor quality and company's customer service. The very first time I tried these on, the bar tack at the bottom of the fly came apart. I didn't even have them on yet. Having taking them on and off a couple of times to check fit, the top buttonhole came stitching came completely apart. Others have noted this as well in reviews of other UB products. I contacted UB's customer service about this. I assumed that if a customer purchased a product that was falling apart BEFORE the first wearing, they would be falling over themselves to make it right. Not so much. They suggested I return the jeans to Amazon or send them to UB for repair. Seriously? Not getting much of a sense of concern from UB, I did send them back to Amazon for a refund, and that will likely be my last pair of UBs.

These UB121's in size 32 are my first pair of raw denim. I think my waist is around a 33.5, and the jeans were super tight in the waist (could barely button it up) and thigh (almost skin tight). However, I've worn them every evening after work for about a week, and the waist and thighs have loosened a decent amount. Some of the pros and cons I've noticed so far:
Pros: -Substantial fabric. I was looking for a heavier pair of jeans with winter approaching, and these definitely fit the bill. -Fit. They were a little tight at first, but the fit in pretty much all areas has worked out well for me. -Construction. I've heard of people having issues with button popping off or having loose threads all over the place. I have not experienced this personally, and those buttons were definitely strained consistently in the beginning. Only time will tell if they hold up -Price. Great deal compared to most of the other brands I was looking at. Only time will tell if the quality reflects the cheaper price point.
Cons: -The rise. This is the only area the the fit is kind of an issue. The rise is too low, meaning not a whole lot of room for the boys down there. It's bearable now, but I'm hoping with time the top block will loosen up a bit to give more breathing room. -The pockets. They.. are.. tiny! Not only are they small, but it's a battle to get anything out of them due to the size of the front pocket opening, and stiffness of the thick fabric. I also think the back pockets are a bit large, but much less of an issue compared to the front pockets.
Overall I'm definitely happy with my purchase. I think they're going to become a great pair of comfortable personalized jeans. I would recommend utilizing Amazon's return policy and try a few pairs in different sizes/styles to see which fits you best. Go with the tighter pair, because they will definitely stretch.

Fit: The waist runs a bit large and will stretch about 1-2 inches with wear. I’m hoping they’ll shrink with a hot rinse. The skinny fit is more like a slim straight - aka not very tapered below the knee. It only comes in a 34” inseam, so most people will have to get them hemmed (even if cuffing).
Overall: All in all I really like the heavyweight denim. They are extremely rigid at first, and they bleed indigo As much as you would expect from a pair of raw denim. I bought these as a winter pair. Although they are not noticeably warmer than the 14.5 ounce version, they do feel more wind resistant which is important. I feel like this is the best value you can get for heavyweight denim.
*UPDATE* After just one month of wear, my pair is starting to come apart. The stitching on the main button hole and one belt loop have already come undone. See pics. Pretty disappointed they’re falling apart so soon tbh
