A must have book

It's difficult to pick a favourite Johanna Basford colouring book, but this one just might edge to that top spot in my personal opinion. This book is the same size as her others (with the exception of Ivy and the Inky Butterfly) the paper is what I'd call a warm white, not cream, but not pure brilliant white, it's smooth and thick enough to feel like quality when your using coloured pencils. It takes watercolour if you use it sparingly and on the dry side to avoid crinkling of the pages. The book literally is a world of flowers, there's a few butterfly's and insects here and there, and some fish and birds, but it's the beautiful studies of flowers that make up the book, I'm delighted with it as I'm sure everyone who buys it will be. One extra bonus feature that i loved from the Enchanted Forest, is the fold out page at the back of the book which features a garden, complete with shed and pond, there's so much detail, it's amazing, and, yet another scene on the reverse! Wonderful. Thank you Johanna, many more hours of relaxation, and that's just from looking at the pictures without colouring them!

Great But Not Perfect
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 March 2019Verified Purchase
I am a huge fan of Joanna Basford and have all of her books (with the exception of the Christmas one). I bought this book off Amazon and to be honest I'm not bothered (usually) if it is the UK or USA edition. I really liked this book and I although I did enjoy Inky & the Butterfly, I do prefer those books that are more adult orientated, but that is just a personal preference. This book is up to her usual standard, the paper quality was good, and the pictures were varied and interesting and was more akin to her earlier editions that her later books. Why did I drop a star then? Well it is the first time I have owned a colouring book that has literally fallen apart on me. It seems that I have a USA edition and these books are glued, not stitched. I have never encountered the issue before so was very surprised one day to find a page coming loose, well that was just the start of it. Before long I had most of the book come apart, so much so that I had to bin it which wasn't great given how much time I had put into colouring it. I then ordered again making sure to get a UK edition and I did check to make sure this one is stitched. I know sometimes there are debates about who get the better paper quality between the UK & USA but I wouldn't swop a stitched book for a glued one again no matter if the paper is better or not. Overall however, the book itself is great and I would recommend.

Great for colourist.

Nice book. I own all Johanna Basfords books and have her calendars every year and I enjoy the selection of pictures to colour in this one. Obviously they all contain a lot of flowers. Paper is off white. Good thickness. Tested with pens and no shadowing was seen. The removable jacket to the book can be coloured. Size wise it’s the same as all her other books (excluding Ivy and the Ink Butterfly which is slightly smaller). Will be keeping me calm and occupied this autumn/winter.

Unlucky batch? not Johanna's fault though
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2018Verified Purchase
This book will likely be my favourite so far! The images are beautiful and can't wait to get started. There's so much scope for really making your own masterpiece with backgrounds, as well as the drawings being well proportioned so you can make each flower stand out. Can't wait to see how everyone else colours this book!
That said, I'm disappointed as one 'section' of the book has yellow paper, quite a difference from the rest of the book. This is very noticable and I'm returning the book. It seems like a rogue batch, but really how can a printer company make an error like this? It looks ridiculous and if others have had books from this same batch, a lot of people will be disappointed today when they receive their copy. It's not Johanna's fault that a wonky print run has happened, but I'm sure if anyone else has the same problem with their book, Amazon will send a replacement or refund.
On the contrary, the US edition that arrived yesterday (ordered from UK amazon) had no issues at all, it's perfect.

Beautiful book. Adult colouring back to its best.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 October 2018Verified Purchase
I have struggled with the last book as I just could not get into the book. I like adult colouring. Not a fancy kids fairly tale to colour. Lost my interest in colouring.
But World of Flowers is stunning.
Looked through the book twice now and cannot decide which picture to colour first.
Stunning intricate detail that I love to colour.
So with my best colouring pencils out.
Time to go back to colouring again.
