Sometimes hard to submerge myself into the world due to the number of Spanish words, but Kindles translations made it quick to check. I really liked the nearly seamless transitions between Lydia and Lucas POV (and other characters occasionally). Although a work of fiction, it follows a journey similar to thousands of real migrant's trails each year. Before reading this book, I didn't know exactly how treacherous the paths could be and the amount of trauma leading up to and even years after the crossing. Much like Lydia leading up to her journey, I didn't need to know so I never worried myself. Definitely an eye-opening read.
