I have used various solder suckers over the years. I still have the rubber syrange and will will work if patience is applied. I have also had some of the aluminum solder suckers similar to the engineer. They always failed while in use, falling apart when the plunger release is activated. The cylinder screws into the tip and they simply separate while in use. They also needed to be constantly disassembled to clear out solder bits. The Engineer has superior sucking action, and the solder entering the sucker is ejected by a steel rod when the plunger is pressed down. It is more effective as a sucker, disassembling to clean the sucker is no more. I am very happy with the Engineer.
