Things I liked are it's fast to cook the pies, doesn't take up too much room in my cupboard, seems good build quality, comes with a pastry cutter. Was never really a fan of pies as I wouldn't know what was in them if I bought them but now I can create my own! Can also use it to make quiches (turn off the pie maker and leave for another five minutes closed to let the eggs set without burning the pastry), and I have heard doughnuts and things like that.
One tiny downside is that you can only get one pie base from a standard sheet of pastry (as other reviewers have noted) however I just cut up the excess pastry after the first base is cut and merge two pieces together to make a second base from the pastry sheet. Only takes a minute then you only need three sheets of pastry for four pies (two for four bases, one for the four tops). Never had issues with leaking doing this either.
