Not the Rode SmartLav challenger that some online reviews pitched it as. That said the Boya does an admiral job for a microphone that's about a quarter of the price.
Sound quality is ok but somewhat noisy so needs some post production enhancement or real time noise suppression (most video conferencing apps do this automatically).
The lapel clip is unnecessarily awkward to use but this is easily and cheaply replaced and the length of the cable is annoyingly generous (as in what do you do with all that cable when you don't need it). It would be better for Boya to supply a 2m cable with a 8m extension that you could pull out off you needed than force you to carry around 10m of cable tangle everywhere.
Lastly, I experienced relatively low signal levels into my HP laptop and found that turning the switch to the 'camera' setting (turning on the battery driven circuitry) to boost the signal level was an effective way of addressing this issue.
