'Their Lost Daughters' is my first introduction to Joy Ellis and I will be reading more from her. This is a true page turner. Although it is book two in the series, it worked well as a standalone but I am sorry that I didn’t read 'The Murderers Son' first, only because I enjoyed this one so much.

This is another great British crime thriller set in the East Anglian Fens, featuring police duo D.I. Rowan Jackson and his partner D.S. Marie Evans.

After a missing girl's body is washed up on the beach, Jackson & Evans are tasked with investigating it however they are immediately also allocated a cold case, (a young girl who went missing nearly eight years before). Having barely started their investigation, Jackson & Evans are then asked to assist a neighbouring division in the search for a missing teenager. As they reluctantly begin these enquiries, it soon becomes clear that this and their own new case are linked and involve an illegal drinking club where minors are plied with alcohol and drugs...

The plot had numerous twists and turns which kept me in suspense throughout. The final chapters reveal some totally unexpected surprises and a totally unexpected ending. I look forward to reading more from this author.
