Whether I can memorise within 24hrs remains to be seen. Having said that, the language is simplistic and the rationale easily understood. As I am senior in years I am looking forward to working through the book and exercises with a view to improving my knowledge of the fretboard and playing.
Well it's early days yet and not really got into the book, which only arrived this afternoon. My gripe is that I purchased the printed edition rather the much cheaper Kindle edition based on the advertised included 'free bonus material', such as flash cards. Well, apart from the book itself, THERE IS NO FREE BONUS MATERIAL included! Everything else is available to download, as I guess it would have been had I bought the Kindle edition. So, I feel like I've been conned somewhat. Not sure if this misleading information is down to Amazon or the author/publisher, but it's wrong!!
As an intermediate guitarist who needs a bit of a refresher course on memorising the fretboard, this was great! The fretboard has always been a bit of a gray area for me despite my experience with the instrument. The way the book is written changed my way of thinking about the fretboard reinforcing what I did know and connecting the gray areas. Still got a bit of work to do, but from what I have done so far I'm unlocking it board faster than I thought I could. It's a fun book and I only wish it was available when I was starting out as a beginner. Look forward to future releases!
A revelation .. at last a book that simply explains the fretboard and its relationship to scales. It really is as good as it claims. It makes you wonder why all those other, much more expensive "teach yourself" books make it all so difficult. In one day I gained an understanding that I have struggled to master for more than twenty years. Well done to the author.
Having looked at learning the fretboard as a bit like learning to read Chinese I was pretty doubtful that this little book would live up to its title at least in my case. Instead it not only unlocked the mystery of what note is where but also how to remember that long term. Suddenly I can make sense of reading music too so a genuine light-bulb moment for which I am hugely grateful. I’m not a big reviewer on Amazon but really wanted to share my experience with this. Genius!
I am a complete newbie and musically hopeless as far as reading music and understanding scales. This book is written and illustrated in such a way that it is so easy to understand and learn. The author really has made this so simple. Maybe not be able to learn it in 24hours, though for more accomplished people this is easily doable with this book, but I will definately learn the fret board and notes and it's thanks to this ingenious little book.
For the fretboard learning it is excellent and does just that and this I believe by knowing the fret board will aid in the learning of scales and chord shapes ect. Has freebies in the book but i hate signing up for stuff. I absolutely recommend for fluency of the fret board to further your learning and make playing easier as opposed to memory learning a song which is okay but a bit rigid
