To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
When there are recipes they are very good but there are pages and pages of photos and comments with no recipes. And not that adaptable for a novice cook nor a vegetarian one. Still- here is access to recipes you would never get anywhere else- you will have to be inventive and modify them for your family. An easier take is Takeaway- forget the author ? Les Hyunh? but no surprises like pig blood dumplings and offal which can render this book inaccessible for many who like me want to make pho and rice crepes.
The photography and design of the book is so beautiful. Jaw-dropping really. During the first flip through, I was very happy with this book and very excited. When I looked at it a second time, I realized that half of the dishes that I wanted to make were just described about in a few paragraphs, with NO RECIPE actually provided. I ended up feeling really disappointed, over and over again, as I went through the book. This is a big flaw. If there was an actual recipe for each dish featured, than I would give this 5 stars.
I bought this book from PTP Flash Deals and got an unused copy at a used book price. If I had paid full price for the book, I would have been very disappointed. This is a big book with a lot of good pictures. But a big portion of the dishes that the author tried are noodle dishes. There are a lot of other kinds of street food dishes were not covered.
