I bought it because it’s the Bakery near my sister in Oz.. And my mum and sister (and a couple of friends) would talk about what they’d had.. I made the polenta cake.. it was good.. I made the cheese cake.. it was amazing.. I see no reason to go any further.. but I’m sure I will..
A book I know I’ll get a lot of use out of. I bought this book desperately missing the gingernut cookies I frequently used to buy from the bakery. A quick google & I saw that Nadine had written a book! I promptly ordered this book and it arrived overnight. I'm grateful for the additions of other Flour & Stone favourites such as the famous Pannacotta Lamingtons, which I've made a handful of times, and they have never failed to wow people. Also the caneles, crumpets (I didn’t like crumpets before these), leek & gruyere tart; chocolate, raspberry & buttermilk cake (you really cant share this without a dessert fork fight), croissants, chocolate & sour cherry cookies and Anzac biscuits.
This book is beautiful, easy to follow, completely delicious & really showcases the absolute best of baking in Sydney. If you go to Sydney, make sure you go - its a quick walk from Museum or St James train station.
I have tried several recipes and all were beautiful. Clearly written, easy to follow (some need a little bit of patience) and tasting phenomenal. Unfortunately I cannot get all the fresh ingredients where I live. Fabulous book.
