This is a fantastic reference all about strength. This was very comprehensive and laid out in a way where one could understand it. His writing is very motivational, clear, and to the point, His claims are all backed by studies and references. I've tried strength training lately and made some significant progress and never looked or felt better in my long history of fitness. Read and understand what he is saying and give strength training a try if you never have, you may never go back to other methods. Thank you Josh Bryant for your motivation and excellent publications. Work hard, lift sensible, and recover.
Tout les facteurs des quels dépendent la performance sont passés au peigne fin. Psychologie, physiologie de base, mouvement, méthodes et plusieurs exemples de programmes utilisées par les plus fort. A lire
I had already picked up a copy of the original built to the hilt, which is another great book by the way, so I was very excited for a specific strength and power addition. I thought this book would be a companion piece to the original, but I was very wrong. Whereas I recommend picking up both titles, this book can stand completely on its own.
The book is easy to read and Josh lays out the important ground work for how and, more importantly, why one programs for a strength athlete. He gives insight into the scientific reasoning behind powerlifting principles as well as includes in his anecdotal advice via his personal experiences. You also get a succinct overview of some of the concepts expressed in a college level Exercise Physiology course. I read the book in a weekend and am now going back and highlighting key areas for quick reference.
If you do pick up both copies of Built to the Hilt, then you will notice a few redundancies in information. Personally, I appreciated these, because it only served to highlight the most important aspects of the text.
My own personal favorite takeaway from the two books is the inclusion of non-traditional exercises such as the dead bench. Josh Bryant and been advocating this movement for some time now, but I recently added it to my program. Holy crap! It is a game changer. I think this movement alone is going to help me blow past my 360 bench and clear my 400 pound goal.
Overall, I think this book is very well written and includes information invaluable to strength coaches and athletes alike. I would not hesitate to pick up a copy.
I thought the first volume was an awesome read but Josh Bryant has taken things to atmospheric levels with this one. This book is MUST READ material...filled with amazing workouts and rock solid strength, power, and nutrition information. It holds great training knowledge and training secrets of many strength sport legends, one of the many highlights of the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to take their workouts to uncharted levels. This literature does not disappoint. You will never get bored with your workouts again.... JOSH BRYANT IS TOP NOTCH.
As a fitness professional that has read and owns many books on training, this is a must add to one's personal library. After reading this book and refering to it on a daily basis, it truly reaches levels of being an encyclopedia of power and strength. If you ever wondered how some of the top athletes in the world train, here is your opportunity. Combining this book with Josh's Size and Strength Blueprint sets a person up with solid foundational knowledge and enough workout plans for about a year! Cannot wait to see what Josh comes out with next!
Excellent reference book for strength and power athletes . I've had great success with Josh Bryant's coaching . I've used him for five years now and he's helped me to achieve lifetime bests at age fifty two following a serious knee injury. I can't think of a better coach out there. Get this today and getting started making gains and smashing prs.
Great book. Josh covers a lot of ground, while keeping it organized and on topic. It took me years to pull together all the information (conversations with champs, articles, VHS tapes/DVDs) he has packed into this book. The kindle version is great, but this is a book you study and read several times. I am going to buy the hard copy too!!
5 stars! This book is so simple and perfect. It will break down everything you need to know. After reading this book Ive gone from benching just over 350lbs to benching almost 500lbs in a span of a year. Drug free, and 23 years old. If I'm able to grow and learn from it anyone can!
