I am a complete music novice trying ukulele for the first time and purchased this book based on the reviews. I didn't find this book particularly helpful. It's not encouraging and doesn't make learning the ukulele enjoyable. I almost gave up after a day with this book but instead decided to give "21 ukulele songs in 6 Days" a try. Much better and made learning ukulele FUN!
I play a wind instrument so while I’m not a novice musician I don’t play stringed instruments and I found this book hard to follow. Of the approximately 15 songs, I (at age 60) only knew about 5 of them so you don’t get much for your money in the way of playing songs that anybody around the campfire can sing along with. Save your money and search for ‘beginning ukelele’ on YouTube; there are lots of great instructional videos there and I went much farther and faster than I did with the book
It has a few pages of information you can get on youtube, and better presented. Waste of money. Poor explanations. Arrangements are supposed to be at the basic beginner level, but they thro 5-6 chords at you at once, with very little explanation of technique. Seriously.....you get much better info from youtube.
This book is lacking incredibly, It give NO GUIDANCE at all. It teaches you nothing, The only tiny piece of good information was the chord sheet on The last page, Other than that just don't waste your money!
JUST THREW BOOK IN PLASTIC MAILER.....BOOK ALL BENT UP......SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN CARDBOARD MAILER.....ORDERED STEVIA .....ARRIVED IN BROKEN BOXES......NOT RETURNING THE BOOK BECAUSE,,,,I LOOKS LIKE A GOOD BOOK,,,& I WANNA MAKE GOOD MUSIC.....
I bought the book because I wanted to play along with an instructor as I learned. But when I was playing the ukulele I couldn't hear the recording on either my computer or tablet, even with the volume turned all the way up on my devices. It was also difficult to locate where I wanted to be on the video. I just had to skim back and forth through the video to find the right location.
