5.0 out of 5 starsThought provoking essays

Thought provoking, " mature" , written in a perspective language sometimes yet beautifully done.

Definitely recommended for a lot of "soul" searching.

The title should give the hint. This is hard work and at times contradictory which makes it hard to keep engaged. Ended up choosing some of the essays of interest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Trivial and Plain

By essays, they are actually list of points with very little in-depth thinking. And the book is composed of 101 such lists, mostly rephrasing and repeating the trivial.

Nothing revolutionary or will open your mind. It may make you feel like you have some clarity while you are reading it but I doubt it will "change the way you think".

Extremely disappointed on how a book full of lists and more lists is called a book of essays. I am just finding it so hard to continue. The quality of paper is bad. Unless you are new to the world of self development, this book is really very very basic.

Henderson
1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t waste your time
Reviewed in Australia on 9 March 2022
Absolute terrible book. Feels like the author simply found a collection of online blogs/articles of the usual “top 10 things to improve your life”/other topics and combined it into one book. Majority of the messages were surface level points and very few actual studies referenced to back up the message.

One point was legit “call you mum, not everyone has the privilege”…..with no further explanation. I was thinking “well duh, do I really need a book to tell me this”. I was half expecting the next point to be “call your grandma”.

Definitely better when a self help book focuses on a few key points but in depth as opposed to this rubbish collection of “101 essays”.

Very basic content, nothing profoundly different; perspective wise.. a lot of common sense stuff. Overall very underwhelming. Total bore. Give this one a hard pass and save your money

I bought the book because the title seemed compelling. The title is a complete exaggeration because the rather short chapters are mostly lists of commonplace statements and lack quality and depth to qualify as essays. The high ranking the book receives and the reason why it became a bestseller is probably because there is nothing controversial in it. It wants to make you feel better about your life, jumping randomly between topics, but there is nothing thought provoking or to learn from. Save the money and go to the movies instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible read but a good quality book.

In my opinion this book is not worth the read. It’s not thought provoking essays but simple lists (It reminds me of Pinterest posts). The numbered lists makes the read choppy and then I lose interest quickly. I do not recommend this book at all.

The quality of the book was wonderful and there weren’t any typos I noticed (some other sellers seem to have quite a few).

This book is awful, there's some chapter that are okay and a little bit motivational, but there's literally a chapter that tells you that you might not still be alive for your thirties, that you're not exceptional, and not smart enough to be anything you want in life. PLEASE NEVER GIFT THIS BOOK TO YOUNG ADULTS AND TEENAGERS. And most of all there's a lot of chapters about how if you're "procrastinating" you'll never succeed in life, it's like a book that represent everything that's wrong about our society these days, you need to WORK to feel important. If you ever feel like doing nothing there's something wrong with you and you must ALWAYS DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE.
On her Instagram there's some beautiful quotes that are nice and reassuring about life and how everything will be okay so I thought I'd buy her first book, now I realize that I never should have, I lost 20€.
This book is definitely not for people that want to feel okay about themselves. DON'T READ IF YOU'RE SEARCHING FOR COMFORT.

Everything in it just makes you question if you're good enough. It's like a list of facts that tells you you're not good enough, and if you're not like that you're not "on the right path". A really f***ed up book.

I got this book cause it seemed like a good read. I am a couple of essays in. I think the names really hook you of each essay, but at least the first 5 essays that I have read are mostly in lists (and skimming through the pages, most are), and seem to keep say the same message over and over again. This book won't change the way you think, cause the other doesn't change the message. To sum up the message and save you the money and 400 pages of reading, break your routine and don't be afraid of things that scare you - it means you care. Also, take charge of the way you feel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pessimo libro
