To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I am no musical professional and don't listen to opera type of music a lot, i.e., an "amateur". But I like this album -- the melody, the voice (yeah!), the style are refreshing! I checked out some of the songs sung by Pavaroti and I like Watson better. Like most popular movies never won Oscar (Indiana Jones, Die hard, ...) because "professionals" (critics etc.) don't think them worthy. Hey, I like them and most of the regular guys like them and these movies are more successful than those Oscars. Only song I think not so good is 'Bridges over the troubled water'-- the song and his voice just don't match. Hence 4 stars.
Russell Watson's voice is amazing versatile, ranging from pop to classical easily. I preferred the selections on his Encore CD to this one. These items are much more along the "already done that" vein, while the selections on Encore were more interesting to me. I have all three albums though and enjoy them all.
Russell I am knocking off one star for your feeble attempt at Barcelona. Russell please don't try to be Freddie Mercury again. Nobody can ever take his place or do justice to his music. Otherwise I loved this CD and am recommending it for background music at my daughter's wedding.
