I have been enjoying streaming this cd, originally to have the composer's interpretation of Appalachian Spring. A pleasant bonus was William Warfield's interpretation of Old American Songs, especially simple gifts. I was able to direct friends to the Warfield performance, all commenting on his beautiful voice and interpretation. I looked forward to having the actual CD instead of relying on streaming. I have now played the CD and it exceeds my expectations, with superb spread of sound played in stereo through my 5.1 system. The sound is superior to the Chandos sacd recording , which suffers from an exaggerated dynamic range spoiling an otherwise valid alternative interpretation.
Bought this to hear how Copland the composer would be interpreted by Copland the conductor and was NOT disappointed. Copland was an American master!!! This one is a rare treat that will be a welcomed addition to any Copland CD collection! Thanks, Amazon!
A quality product, great sound, and perfect condition. Fanfare For The Common Man is one of by favorite music by Aaron Copeland, and this CD has two tracks by different orchestras. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
I would encourage everyone to become familiar with Aaron Copland, but with so much other music we are exposed to, how do we learn about this genius? My hope is that they are still teaching him in school. He is truly an American treasure. I would love to hear from other people who are as enamored and inspired by Copland as I have been all of my life.
How could you go wrong with Aaron Copland conducting Appalachian Spring? I know that there are other works here, but Appalachian Spring has been one of my favorite classical works since I was a teenager. It is just plain beautiful. It is like waking up in the Smoky Mountains.
