I was only looking for a single fluted edge cutter for making ravioli, but I knew I would end up needing a straight cutter regardless, so I decided on this tool which is 2 in 1! The diameter of the wheel is around 1.5 inches which is perfect for cutting thin doughs but maybe not cooked pizza crust. I thought the close proximity of both wheels would impede one another’s performance, but that wasn’t the case as they provided clean cuts from various angles! Wheels are nicely sharpened, easy to roll, cuts smoothly, and the handle is a silicon texture which provides a firm grip. Really enjoy using this sturdy device and I would definitely recommend!
On another note, I was looking for a fluted edge with sharper angled zig-zag-like pattern, but I am starting to like this wavy fluter as it gives a more smooth and subtle look to the pasta!
I originally thought that all I wanted was a wavy cutter to help seal my ravioli, but the straight blade is just as handy. I've been using the straight blade to cut my pasta sheets and the roller is easier to use than a knife. A knife slightly drags the pasta sheet so I need to secure the sheet with my free hand in order to make a clean cut. The roller doesn't drag the sheet at all when cutting, so it doesn't need to be secured. This allows me to make much longer sheets that I can lay down but by not with my free hand and cut to length. Also, there is only one cutting utensil to clean afterwards
Frankly, I don’t know why some of these cutters are so expensive. This version does the work just fine, the blades are sharp enough. I can see that some people may want the ravioli wheel to produce more pointy definition than just a wave type edge.
I don't use this for pasta but rather for polymer clay... it works great for cutting straight lines, wavy lines for either of the wheels and you can do some really nice folds with the ravioli wheel. I'm left handed and this conforms to either hand. The handle is very easy to hold and it is easy to maneuver.
Lo he usado para hacer ravioles, cortar tiras para tarta y cortar pizza, cumple con su objetivo bastante bien, si se nota mucha la diferencias entre usar un cortador de masas y un cuchillo, definitivamente es mas comodo
