I've had several pairs of these over the years - and no other gloves have come close in terms of usability.
The finger pads are thin & flexible enough that you can still feel what you are doing but thick enough to keep your fingers warm (when you're lying under your Land Rover on a FREEZING night, changing a UJ - for example!).
They have enough resistance to cutting, abrasion & impacts without being so thick it feels like you're wearing boxing gloves!
If you 'enjoy' mechanics - or even just own a Land Rover, these are your friend!
Bought these on 6th July as I wanted something to replace all the nitrile gloves I get through. Seemed great to start with, nice fit, still had decent finger movement. Only used them for light use as I didn't want to ruin them but after a month (which was probably only about 20-30 hours of use) one of them has a hole in the thumb.
Not impressed, hoped they'd last longer, especially with only light use and them being advertised specifically as mechanics gloves.
I am a size 9 with gloves, checked Mechanix's pdf sizing chart which confirmed this, however the gloves are a little small/tight. If you are in between sizes I would suggest to go UP. Overall though I am very happy because they seem sturdy yet I am enjoying a much better dexterity, comparing to other gloves I have. I use these gloves for cycling, but these are obviously good for many different purposes. I think they protect your hands very well. It's a shame they are not water proof but aside from this I am happy, in fact I wear these gloves even when I go walking, shopping etc. because they look cool but not flashy or conspicuous.
This is the third pair of mechanix gloves I've worn. super comfy, and better than most when it comes to needing dexterity for things that bulkier gloves would get in the way of.
My last two pairs wore through to the fingers after a year or so of use, with that said I used them a lot, and in severe conditions. I don't expect these ones to do any better but with that said, for the price tag it's hard to complain seeing just how well they hold up in other areas. They'll break eventually, but I know I'll probably just come back for another pair.
I use these gloves in security work so not to harsh on them they fit well warm and work well on being able feel things like radio's, there is one thing i notice that could over time become problem is heavy use could make gloves ware much quicker than people might want but thats on how you use them
I drive trucks. Changing trailers, shifting cargo. These Mechanix gloves are the nuts. The best are the CR5 but these are just as durable. These Originals wash well in a machine to get all the grease out too without affecting durability. They came overnight from this seller and were spot on.
Great gloves, no problem with the construction etc. Unfortunately, they were too small, despite following the size chart provided. My advice, order one size larger, and you'll be fine. Now I have the hassle of returning them, though.
After reading a lot about these gloves I decided to buy a pair. The fit is ok and I was initially impressed, but then I noticed a hole on one of the fingers where the stitching had come apart (this is on day one of recieving the item). Quality control seems to be lacking and I expected better for my £20.
