My daughter loves the waffle fries at a popular chicken fast food place because, you know, they look cool. Taste-wise they're pretty average and certainly not worth the expense (it's a potato!) Figured I would make my own as they taste WAY better and have the same look and cost about a tenth as much. The ridges on this item are so shallow that the waffle look can only be gotten by cutting the potato so thin it is almost potato chip thin. Still delicious but thinner than they should be. Still in search of an inexpensive DEEP ridge slicer but this is good to make basic criss-cross fries and pretty vegetable plates.
It does its job but the most annoying thing is that it retains water inside the handle, when I wash it I have to shake to get the water out albeit not all of it comes out. the handle itself feels like cheap plastic. The blade is sharp... although I am wondering if it'll go blunt first or become rusty >o<
I like the product. But they sent me a used one.... I'm just going to clean it and use it instead of return it. Because I don't want to deal with sending it back.... But I didn't buy a used product I bought a new one. So they shouldn't have given me one already used. There is Knicks on the handle and the blade wasn't cleaned well.
Bought it to try and attempt (potato) waffle fries, but unfortunately the grooves weren't deep enough to make the "restaurant" style waffle fries we all know and love. It's still pretty decent for wavy fries, but that doesn't quite have the same appeal, unfortunately.
It cuts decent enough but can be a little difficult on harder things like sweet potatoes
