I've had at least one of these for as long as I've had ferrets (16 years)... there quite simply are no competitors making this product, if there were then I would certainly have tried them. This is the first time my ferrets have refused to go through one. It has a strong odor, so I've washed it a few times, which made the wire rust, and it keeps retracting back to just slightly longer than the box it came in. I'm wondering if Marshalls are using different materials in the manufacturing process? Could be my ferret I guess...
I bought this when it was on offer last October. It arrived quite quickly to the UK so well in time for Christmas. I bought one of these about 10 years ago and it lasted really well, in fact I still have half of it left! I had had to cut it down over the years due to wear and tear and duct tape a few spots, so when I saw this I decided it was time to get a new one.
It comes in a small box but don't worry it stretches right out. You may have to give it a good stretch a few times before it stays at full length. It does come with a smell.. a plastic like aroma that my Furballs didn't like one bit, however the smell disappears after a couple of days and they were soon chasing each other through it and having a Ferret good time.
The quality of it seems pretty much the same as their old one so I'm hoping this one will last just as long. I used to clean the old one every 6 months or so by letting it soak in the bath with hot soapy water then swishing it about a bit.. Not the easiest to keep clean that's for sure but the outside at least is easy to rub down with a sponge, then just hang it over a door or such to dry. Time will tell if this one holds up for as long.
All in all I am very happy... but most importantly the Fuzzies love it.. >'o'<
Whilst the ferrets love it I wasn't sure about the very strong smell (it was worse than the ferrets)! I'm hoping this will fade with time. After buying I realised it was just like a tumble dryer vent which you can get from most DIY stores although I'm not sure stores sell clear ones. I have attached mine to a white tumble dryer vent I had spare to give twice the distance.
I bought this tunnel as it is supposed to be 5m long stretched out, but basically it's a giant spring and always concertina's back to its compressed state. My ferrets can't run through it as it just shrinks back all the time. Very disappointed.
Nice size, although takes a while to stretch it out after unpacking. The plastic’s not that thick, but is reinforced by a series of rings, so ok. Like the fact it’s see through. It is also really flexible.
I purchased these because they are advertised as specfically for ferrets which they are perfect for making tunnels and wrapping around cat trees for ferret enrichment but they rip easily i thought that because they are for ferrets that they would stand up to ferret distruction (within reason obviously) but nope i purchased 4 tubes altogether and all of them have had to be repairer with gaffer tape
Perfect play tube for our ratties during free roaming time - they love it! It extends to 15 metres which goes a long way and we make different shaped tunnels for them by twisting/ knotting it in different ways.
