Works quickly - can do a large zucchini in about 30 seconds if set up properly It works with a wide size range of fruits and vegetables The three blades allow for a wide range of cuts The blades all fit nicely into the base - no figuring out where to store them Assembly is extremely easy - simple, intuitive design.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of design issues that prevented me from giving it five stars:
Vegetable/fruit juice drips frequently in the area where the unused blades are stored, requiring them to be rinsed even when not used The unit is so light it can be difficult to balance when spinning. You can balance it by pressing down with your free hand, but it takes a bit of getting used to Sometime it can be challenging to get the blades out of the machine after use
All in all, a very good purchase and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is intending to spiralize frequently but doesn't want to break the bank.
Very easy to use but found carrots and beets stains were almost impossible to get out of plastic. Saw a video online today and said just to use vegetable oil on a paper towels, stains came out with no effort what so ever. Some of the stains were on since I got machine last month. Now bright white again
I am new to the world of Spiralizing. I ordered this gadget a few weeks ago and it came with the 3 blades and it looks like a good little unit. It did not come with 'how to' guide but instructions did tell you how to assemble it which was very simple. Most Paleo recipe books tell you how to use this unit and if you don't have them, google it as it is great to have some tips to make your first try a successful one. I have spiralized zuchini and for that it works great. I tried butternut squash and that was difficult since it is a harder squash. I had to push hard and I broke a sweat doing so, but it got the job done. I might use my food processor and shred the butternut next time. I have a tile counter and the suction cups would pop loose, but that is to be expected with the surface they were on. For easy cleaning, rinse with cold water immediately after you are done and you will need to use a dish brush to get the little bit of vegie off the blades, but that's no big deal. This unit does not take up much room in cupboard. I am glad I bought it. I hope it lasts since it is plastic...I will not use super hard vegies on it to play it safe.
This is a wonderful contraption to have as part of a healthy eating spree. Instead of buying the spiral vegetables, it's healthier and cheaper to do it yourself with this product. Likes: You can control the amounts you want to make and it's easy to use. Dislikes: It can be hard to clean. Overall: I would recommend it for the value.
I got this product for my mom for her birthday and she absolutely loved it! It works great, the only reason I give it 4 stars, rather than 5 is that it doesn't necessarily cut every vegetable that was intended and it was a little bit difficult to get the hang of. Other than that, works great!
I wanted to make sure I liked the taste/texture of zucchini noodles before purchasing an expensive spiralizer. I can't testify to how well this item works on tougher vegetables like potatoes or carrots, but I am really happy with the softer zucchini noodles. The spiralizer is easy to use and clean. It doesn't always stick to the countertop very well but I've found it works much better when I press it down onto my glass cutting board. The noodles come out long and stable, and when I blanche them for a couple of minutes they really do resemble real pasta noodles. Overall I am happy with this item.
I use this mainly to make organic spiral potato "fries" baked in olive oil and spices. I have also used it to make zuchinni "pasta" which comes out excellent. It's hard to use on small vegetables like organic carrots, but still well worth the money. I wish it was a bit more stable; I do feel like it will snap in half after I use it for a while but I try to be gentle with it and hope that won't happen. Overall, I recommend it!
I love this product, it works just as described. I have tried a variety of veggies, and everything comes out in a perfect spiral! I guess the only thing that I don't like about this product is that it can be hard to stabilize when cutting. I find that it still wants to move around when you use the suction cups. I wish there was something I could place my hand and keep it in place.
