I have played several varieties of violin string over my thirty-four years of playing. I always return to Thomastik Dominant. These strings produce the fullest, most pleasing tone to my ear. I have found other strings to be more thin and tinny.
I know nothing about violin, but my son plays. I bought him a cheap violin off eBay. His teacher told me to order a set of these strings. He took them, changed out his violin, fixed the Bowe, and my son is still playing the violin 10 years later. Obviously, we have broken one here and there, but they are durable and sound awesome. The moment his teacher changed to these strings, his said the value of the violin tripled, and I believe it. My son's teacher has played in many symphonies and teaches music at a college. If they are good enough for him, they are good enough for me.
These are my go-to strings and never disappoint. I was very happy to find a single string vs. full set since that is all I can get at most shops. I have only had to replace the A string many more times than any of the others, and I was tired of collecting extras of the other three!
