Like a few other reviewers, I wish that this had the option to "snap" open so that you didn't have to hold it open while washing, filling, etc, and so that it could dry on the open setting. Besides that, I like this! The handle is a little shorter than I had thought it would be, so the loop barely pokes up above the water line on bigger mugs. It isn't worth returning for, but this isn't a one-tool-fits-all for your tea needs.
It works well, though, and the mesh is extra fine, which I appreciate. I haven't experienced problems with rusting (fingers crossed!).
Also, if you're used to Prime shipping, this takes forever to ship and get there, and they use DHL, which doesn't have the best updates (read: no updates).
I prefer the "tweezer" style of this tea ball compared to the chain type. It's much easier to control from a spill standpoint. The only issue with this tea ball is the same issue with all tea balls on the market--they're so small and the tea leaves don't have room to expand. Additionally, this one can be tough to fill properly, as some tea types get stuck around the perimeter, making it hard to close this all the way and get a proper seal. All negatives aside, this helped me brew a lot of loose leaf tea quickly and conveniently. I just wish the ball itself were bigger.
These are quite large. Much larger than they typical tea strainer. I decided to go ahead and try one before returning it. It works a treat. I had to add a dash of extra water after brewing because it displaces a bit more, but the larger size actually allows the water better access to all of the tea leaves. I'm keeping both that I ordered.
Used for the first time a couple of days ago-- so far I like it. It's nice to steep with in a cup, I always lose the metal chains in the hot drink on the other ones I have. This I don't have to worry about it too much. Loading it is kind of hard though, I wish there was a feature to lock it into open mode (You have to continually squeeze to keep it open to load it with the leaves). It's much easier with black tea leaves than oolong, they seem to poke out between the lips of the ball (not a firm seal), so you have to watch out for that when loading. Otherwise a very nice infuser, looking forward to see how well it holds up over the long run.
This infuser is the perfect size for the perfect cup of tea. It doesn't leave a metallic taste at all, unlike some others. I really like it except that (knocking it down to 4 stars instead of 5) it was a bit difficult to squeeze and hold open at first. After a few uses, it works wonderfully; either it's loosened up a bit or I've built up some strength in my hands :)
