Our 11 week old German Shepard puppy was able to open the top latch and tried to get out of the top of this kennel. He was wedged in the cage so tightly that when he was found he was dead. We were gone less than 30 minutes. Our children are devastated. We are devestated. This kennel was suppose to be a safe place for our puppy. I hope no other family has to experience a tragedy like this.
Great product it's very big for my puppy but since we are able to put in the divider we've made a space for him that he feels happy in. He's going to be a big dog so it's nice we can size it to match him.
The doors close nicely and it's easy to put together.
Great service from the seller too we are very pleased thank you.
I bought this 42" crate for my German Shepherd puppy when she was 3 months old. The divider was perfect for when she was smaller and was adjusted several times as she grew.
The two door system allows for different crate placement options in the house which is very handy. The hinges are on the left though (seems to be for every crate on the market) which is never in the direction I need. Oh well!
My dog is pretty calm for such a young pup and is not an escape artist. She has never pawed at the door or walls of the crate that we've seen. She has had tantrums in the crate a few times and once somehow destroyed a homemade fitted crate cover from inside the crate while we were out. The cover was shredded but the crate was completely fine.
I purchased my first crate online from wal-mart for my pup, a second one for her sister, and recently a third one from amazon.ca to keep at our second home so we don't have transport it. It is the same product as Wal-Mart, but comes in a different box (and usually ships faster through Amazon).
My pup in the photo is 8 months old and 77lbs. She has plenty of room to stand, sit, and turn around. She goes to the crate on her own and spends most of her time curled on one side.
I reccomend this crate to all my friends with new pups or calm dogs. I can't speak to how effective it is for the escape artist or most pit dogs though.
Solid construction, easy to assemble and the bottom being a solid piece is a huge bonus when crate training as it is very easy to clean.
Similar crates are about double the price at the local pet stores and about the same quality (had purchased previously and given away) so I am very happy with this purchase.
Our puppy is a chewer, and the way the bottom part is constructed makes it impossible for it to be chewed up, no overlapping accessible parts, and the metal bars give you peace of mind that your pup can't chew his way through if you are using while not at home.
I would highly reccomend buying a crate this size for a medium to large breed as you will be able to use this even when they are fully grown, crate training is the easiest and fastest way to potty train your puppy, and this crate is a great pick for value and quality.
I will also mention that a friend of ours purchased a similar crate at a pet store that ended up constantly collapsing due to lack of reinforcement which was very dangerous, and even with a very rambunctious 6 month old pup, I am happy to say that this one has remained solid.
I originally bought the size smaller and purchased this 1 size bigger (46x23x30) and love this size for my bun bun. Lots of space for my little bun bun. 2nd floor was added with the diver provided. I just adjusted the hooks to fit onto the side bars of the cage, added carpet and voila, more space for bunnny boy. This is also great for a dog of course. It is pretty solid and easy to set up. Took me 5 minutes. Shipping was fast too. This also has 2doors. 1at the side and 1 in the front. Pretty handy! I had to send the smaller one back with amazon provided the label and dint cost anything at the post office, I just hope I get the same deal on the return shipping as the price it was supposed to be when shipped to me. We will see.
We just got a new Goldendoodle puppy and are VERY happy to have this crate!
It's for medium to large dogs. Easy enough to assemble (just have to snap in certain pieces, might be hard if you have long nails) and very sturdy. I've even been using the top of the crate to store/rest random things.
The best part is the divider. It makes the crate adjustable, so we can slowly increase the size as the puppy gets older. It has a removable plastic bottom, which is easy to clean in case of any accidents. Fingers crossed, we haven't had one yet!
Expect to have some puppy tears in this crate during the training period, but they will end up loving their safe space in the end!
The price is way cheaper than traditional pet stores, and even used ones on marketplace. We've been using the crate for about a week and highly recommend it to others!
I chose the wire crate because it is cheaper than the big plastic ones, but also because it has a couple of features I like - wheels to move it around with and protect the floor, and a divider so that the crate size can "grow" with my puppy. This also folds flat with a small footprint - BUT I was not prepared for how heavy it is. I couldn't even get it into my car on my own, let alone set it up. I like it for a not-yet-potty=trained dog since it is way easier to clean, and because it gives me the flexibility of a crate the dog can see out of , or I can put a blanket over it. HOWEVER - those massive plastic ones that take up a ton of space are MUCH easier to handle if you aren't strong enough for heavy things.
