We got a 7 year old rescue cat and this scratch post works standing up or flat. We put it where he was scratching our carpet and our cat likes it best flat so he lays on it and sharpens his claws on it. We do clip his claws monthly or sometimes oftener as they grow pretty quick. Such a good solution we have ordered a 2nd one for the upstairs and may order a 3rd for the basement. We have the corrugated cardboard ones but he did not use even when doused with cat nip. HINT: As for the furniture/couches/wall to wall carpet which we had taped rows of painter's frog tape to deter him from shredding (yes it worked); we are gradually removing a strip a day. This frog tape is cheap, easy to apply or remove and leaves no residue on furniture or carpet.
My cat absolutely LOVES this thing. It doesn't stand up very well, but I've put in flat on the floor for her and she uses this as her hangaround place. She sleeps here, scratches at it, everything. She loves this and it has held up incredibly well considering the abuse she hurls at it.
Definitely worth the money, and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone considering purchasing it.
So I bought this for my cat, and she likes to kiss (or rub her cheek onto things) a lot, and no matter where I set this up it falls over relatively quickly. It is not stable or heavy enough for the cat to even release its claws on it without it falling over onto them. My cat normally kisses it and knocks it over before she can use it the way it was meant to be used. I bought a different post that is much more stable and she loves that much more than this. I ended up selling after a few days as it was never used
Mala compra.
