I purchased this after a recommendation from our Vet as one of our cats has developed a heart condition and the cold weather may exacerbate it. Both our cats love them! We have two heat pads one for each cats, and within a few days one cat has been resting her head and paws on it when sleeping or curling around it, whilst the other cat sleeps on top of it! The heat lasts and we can usually heat mid-morning, and then it has cooled to enable it to be heated before bed so they have heat source most of the day.
My ageing bunny (14) is warm on winter nights now. Put the pink disc in the microwave for 5 mins, then put it inside the cosy cover, slide it under bunny's straw bed and he hops straight on. Still feels slighty warm in the morning, good to know he's been warm for the majority of the night. Worth the money.
Second one of these I have bought (the other one is still in use, I just needed another one so I could swap them over).
Use them for my Guinea pigs to keep them nice and warm and snuggled during cold weather. I just pop one in the microwave (without fleece cover) for 5 minutes, then pop on the fleece cover which has a Velcro seal, then put in hutch. I put it under their hay bedding or a fleeced bed, so there is no chance of them coming into direct contact with the pad. They seem to enjoy the warmth, quite often I'll find one of them asleep on top of it (or evidence of that i.e. a wet patch!).
There is now a handy sticker on the pad tells you how long to heat for depending on your microwave's power - I don't think my first pad had this, and it's really useful.
In the picture is my 11 week old dachshund puppy. She loves it! Even though the product itself is hard, I feel that makes it safer if chewed and would say I completely trust it after having it for nearly 4 weeks. She will voluntarily snuggle close or on top of it even when there is other comfy bedding close by.
Gets the paws up from our elderly cat! Bought this over a week ago & initially thought it might have to go back as it's a hard solid plastic disc - so it doesn't look like it would be comfortable to lie on. I think I was imagining something more akin to a soft flexible heat pad or something more squishy/jelly-ish in it's construction. Anyhow, weather was cold and the item had arrived so thought I'd give it a go & see how he got on with it. He's a very suspicious & fastidious creature (aren't they all?!) The verdict is a resounding YES! 5 min blast first thing in the microwave & then it's good to go & hot until I get home in the evening to a very toasty happy puss cat. No worrying throughout the day if he'll be cold or need to turn the thermostat up a notch 'just for the cat'. I bought it for £11.99 & it's def worth the money as far as my cat is concerned!
I've used these for years. Or rather, I've actually only had two of these over the years so long-lasting are they. A few minutes in the microwave and you get around 6hrs (realistically - 10 is a bit ambitious) of soothing, gentle heat for your pets. I've had many cats over the last 30 years and all have loved these heatpads. They do remain rather hard, so I've not found them suitable for the base of the cat beds, but my cats like them propped up at the back so they can warm their bums on them all night.
Very impressed. You simply pop in the microwave for 6 mins, fit the supplied furry cover and it stays warm throughout the freezing nights. Checked our rabbit's hutch at 7 in the morning after a night at sub zero temperatures and it was still quite cosy. I was a bit sceptical originally but now I have bought 2 more to fully kit out our rabbits homes. They don't get so hot as to risk burns either. Easy to clean the cover and the pad itself.
