Not overly impressed with this cage. It’s pretty flimsy but is quite easy to assemble. The separator with the ramp was destroyed by my piggies within 2 days. It didn’t take them too long to move on to the canvas base, so there’s not much left of it. I bought in September and have had to replace with a larger cage in November. I’ll keep it as a temporary cage for when they go to grandmas for holidays. Certainly not worth the money when you factor in the import / postage fees which I notice are now applicable.
I really thought I would love this cage. Although there are many things I like. There are a lot I don’t like. Firstly I’ll start with the good things. I like that I was able to buy two cages and attach them together as I needed more space for 3 guinea pigs. I like that you can separate some areas although I didn’t end up needing the spacers. I like that the cage isn’t to tall and that it came with a top panel to keep other pets away. It’s a very spacious cage which is great. I used it with fleece and a regular size towel fit perfectly! I just put fleece over the towel and voila! Now using shavings as I am trying to figure out the best way to not clean them every other day because of the smell. But with shavings it’s causing the canvas to get gross and hard to wipe off. Now what I do not like. The top of the cage isn’t the easiest to remove and put back. It’s actually really annoying. The bottom is canvas which is wipeable but not as good as you’d think. You can’t pick up the cage as it will just flop as it’s not a structured cage. I have it on my floor right now which is annoying I’ll have to get grids to make a stand for it so it makes me feel like I should have done a C&C cage instead.... I’ve washed the canvas that is on the ramp multiple times and it washes great but now I’ll have to wash the entire canvas in the cage and that will be horrible to take the cage apart and reassemble again. I do not like how it assembles! The cage does the job and I can say it is great for guinea pigs but I am not in love with it. My guinea pigs however love all the space they have. So I am torn. Not sure if I recommend this cage or not. Not really much available for this size of cage...
The package arrived on time and the frame was easy to assemble and true to size. The canvas bottom however was timely to attach/reattach each velcro strap when cleaning. My pets quickly and easily chewed through the fabric so ended up having to return the product.
Post-Purchasing AmazonBasics Canvas Bottom Habitat Pet Cage If you're comparing this with the above-mentioned cage, I would tell you to get the other one. I've had this cage for over a year now, and for at least ten months of that, we haven't been able to connect it properly. The metal has also bent, curving it oddly, and it seems to struggle to have an actual rectangle shape, instead of being an odd octagon (that I have to fight not to fold in on their space). I've also had a guinea pig find a way to escape it before (haven't quite figured out how). It also stains easily, though I would not say it smells. The only thing it has as a benefit compared to the ABCBHPC is that it can connect easier to expand the cage, though I expect it would cause more warping to the overall shape. If the ABCBHPC is out of stock, and you can't find the material to build a C&C cage (the coroplast is more important then expected), this is an okay cage to have, just not the best on the market -anymore.
Original Review (4 Stars) This was my first cage for the guinea pigs. After months of use, it doesn't always connect properly, especially post being taken outside and put in a different position.
Very flimsy cage, the metal walls and lid showed up a bit bent and out of shape so sometimes opening and closing the cage or even just putting the divider back in would cause the lid not to fit. The canvas held up good with paper bedding, but I’m not sure how good it would do with fleece liners. All in all , not really worth the price as you can get a grid cage (c&c cages) for cheaper but a much bigger space.
Bought this over a year ago and only used it for about a week when I got my guinea pigs. In my personal opinion it's a little small. I switched to a c&c cage it can be built bigger and cheaper as well. This cage was a lot cheaper when I bought it last year, it was about half the price. I have seen it in stores at wal-mart for around $55. The fabric is also very hard to clean. I use fleece liners but they would still get urine on the sides. If you use this cage you'll definitely have to line it with something but just make sure it's safe for your animal.
viene sin la parte de arriba, sin la división y sin la rampa... :( en la publicación menciona que puede ser expandible a mas espacio y se vende por separado, pero nunca que viene sin la rampa interior o techo...
The guinea pigs chew the casing. We use newspaper with a layer of fleece and they have never chewed the fleece, so I didn't expect them to bother with the bottom casing. Also it is alot of work to disassemble and wash each change, so we tried spraying with vinegar and water and air drying. Seems to work okay.
