Great idea except my mirror was all scratched, when I received it as if it was used. So baby loves the lady bug rattle and bee, but the mirror part is very poor quality.. Should have been packed better.
I don’t know what mirror the people who called this a “good quality mirror” got, but ours is rather distorted like a fun house mirror.
It also doesn’t stand for more than 2-3 seconds. And zero seconds with much movement on the surface it’s on. Since that’s WHY I bought it- to have a mirror that would stand and baby could do tummy time and look at herself- it doesn’t serve that purpose at all.
The baby mostly ignores the mirror part and plays with the little ball and insect thing on the edge. She wants to teeth on that stuff and who knows how safe that is. Either way it’s not a great thing for your baby to try to teeth on a mirror during tummy time.
I don’t recommend this at all. I recommend a plain mirror for mirror time and nice quality balls and tethers separately for teething time or play time. We have two other mirrors that don’t have anything attached to them and she plays with them a lot more than this.
Lastly, one of the toys popped out of mine when we assembled it but I pushed it back in and decided to watch if it kept falling out since it revealed sharp edges on the internal mechanism but thankfully it hasn’t continued to pop off. If you have to buy this, watch out for that!
I ordered this mirror to make tummy time more bearable for my then 4 month old. She has hated being on her stomach and I was pulling out all the stops. I ordered this mirror expecting it to be crisp but it was more like a funhouse mirror. Everything was distorted and it was hard to look at. My baby wouldn't even make eye contact with it despite loving the "baby in the mirror". She did like the bugs in the sides but it wasn't enough to keep her attention. I'd skip this one and buy a better quality mirror for your kiddo.
This mirror is a great size for tummy time and it has been helpful in making my baby happier when it's time to be on the floor. She likes the crinkle in the leaves by the lady bug and has spun the lady bug ball too. It is helpful that there is black and white coloring on it which is easier for infants to see and thus holds their interest longer.
My big complaint with this mirror is the stand. The picture to me is deceiving because it looks like the mirror is open between the two sides that stand it up, but what you can't see is that there is fabric connecting the front mirror to the back stand so you can only open it up so wide to stand it up. (Hope that description makes sense.) It does stand up okay on it's own but the fabric doesn't open wide enough to make it more sturdy. It topples down if there is a breeze in the house it seems. It is frustrating to my baby because she will reach out and play with the lady bug and it will fall down! I usually just prop it up against the edge of the sofa or the coffee table leg so that it stays up. So, I'm still getting use out of it but this definitely has a major flaw.
My daughter loves this mirror. The high-contrast colors and textures keep her really engaged for tummy time. However, the major design flaw makes me hate it. It’s impossible to keep up and even the slightest movement (like from a curious baby) sends it tumbling over onto my baby. It’s soft and super lightweight so no risk of injury, but still not ideal. I wish they made the bottom more sturdy instead of just a piece of fabric to keep it upright. We now just leave it flat on the ground to interact with (which kind of defeats the purpose).
Would be a great product except for the protective film. It’s not a sticker like most mirrors have. It’s plastic that’s embedded under the edges of the mirror so when you take off the plastic, the edges tear. Makes it very hard to get all the plastic off of it, which is obviously extremely important before giving it to a baby. My babies can get even the tiniest things so I won’t be giving this product to them until I can actually lift the edge off the mirror.
I am really disappointed with this item. It is very cute and appealing, but the wedge part is not wide enough to make it stable. My son barely touches it and falls on him. Luckily it is light and won't harm him. It has a lot of potential to be a great product just not there. I do like the velcro on the bottom to make it more travel friendly. With a slight change it would make a world of difference.
The Velcro tabs are on wrong so you have to hang it at a wrong angle to get it on the crib and the tabs aren't very long which can be a problem if your slats are wide.
To have it free-stand, there is a velcro piece in place that you open and the material essentially wants to keep closing up so the mirror tips over. After a while you can "train" the fabric to stay more open but the moment it is moved, the velcro pieces reattach and it won't stand. The moment my son barely touches it, it topples over immediately.
Some say it looks like a fun-house mirror. I would disagree with that but must add that it's not a real mirror, it's a special plastic reflective surface so it looks a bit off - that is something I did expect.
I gave this two stars and not one star because I kept it and have it in my sons crib though I'm not sure how long it will stay in there. Suffice to say, it is destined for the next garage sale.
