I had high expectations for this gadget, but the thing just barely works. You open it and plunge the four not-very-sharp teeth into the strawberry, let go of the plunger to close the teeth, then you have to twist it to get it to actually cut out the stem. This mangles the berry much more than a paring knife does, and when you withdraw the huller and again push the plunger to open the jaws, the stem and berry flesh never just drop out -- you have to flick the mess out with your finger. So all-in-all, no improvement over a paring knife or the old-standby finger-pincer strawberry huller.
It's going into my thrift-shop box. Maybe someone else will like it more if they pay only 50 cents for it.
I thought this would be great for cleaning strawberries, but it doesn't seem sharp enough and for it to work you have to take the stem off first. I had hoped it could be used with the stem on, so basically it doesn't save any time and because it is a bit of a pain to clean , in the end, it's just easier to use a fruit knife.
Just use a knife. My husband likes to buy gadgets like this for our girls, like most this one is such a waste of time. So much easier to use a knife than it is to push the button, push it into the strawberry, release the button, pull it out and then push the button again to remove the stem and do it all over again. If you have a basket of strawberries this takes forever.
Not as good as it was supposed to be. I had a difficult time inserting it into the Strawberry and then the whole would not stay within the unit and I had to dig it out with a spoon so twice as much work as just pulling it off or cutting it off myself
This is a durable and quality product but it is not easy to use and it takes a long time to get through a lot of strawberries. It often gets the leaves stuck in it too. I much prefer my tomato/strawberry corer.
This worked well for a week, but then it broke and no longer picked the stems out of the strawberry. I am disappointed because this seemed like a good product to have. I eat strawberries on a regular basis, but this product was unable to accommodate my needs. The quality was low. The metal piece to pick the stems out bent and could no longer pick the stems out.
