How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scratches and chips easily. Timberland quality control is terrible
Reviewed in the United States on 13 January 2022
Size: 9 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
I've bought like 4 pairs of these because they fit my work needs. I just HATE the fact the "leather" chips and scratches so easily. You barely bump into anything and these shoes start to look like crap. No matter how careful you are they will do this. I can take my finger and press hard on them (just the skin, no nail) and it will scuff them. I would happily pay more for higher quality / more durable leather. Other than that, I've bought and returned so many different pairs of Timberland shoes and boots and it's just sad how bad Timberlands quality control is. You can see it in the stitching. If you buy 3 pairs of the same shoe, each shoe will feel different and there's a good chance each shoe will have different defects in the workmanship you can actually feel. Shouldn't they be defect free and all the same? Almost every pair I buy has major comfort crippling defects. I typically send back 3-4 pairs before finding a pair with defects I can live with. I almost had to send this pair back because the top of the inside of the shoe was sagging down onto my toe on the right shoe making it uncomfortable. Luckily when they wore in, it resolved the problem. I wish I could find a different brand that carries a oxford style boot that way I can stop supporting Timberland. Timberland is one or the only brands that is selling to the marker of people looking for multiple specific styles but they cater to this market with poor quality control. If another company comes along and ticks all the boxes of comfort, durability, quality, style, and price, they could take a large portion of business from Timberland.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very deceiving....
Reviewed in the United States on 3 April 2018
Size: 9.5 US WideColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
So the pictures show that this shoe has a smooth leather finish. When I received it the finish was more like the pimples on a football. I was extremely disappointed. The shoe seems to be of good construction but run large by about a half size. I would get a smaller size but I absolutely hate the pimpled finish and prefer a smooth finish. If there's that option, I would love to know.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to like
Reviewed in the United States on 4 March 2021

I wanted to like these but I can't. They look 5 years old after wearing them for a few days. After 2 weeks the rubber has started to peel back from the leather by the toe. They are very heavy. I work in retail and walk almost all day long. At the end of the day it feels like you're walking with bricks on your feet. They do absorb a lot of the impact when walking on concrete. Other than that, not a huge fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice shoe except internal toe obstruction
Reviewed in the United States on 16 November 2021
Size: 10 US WideColour: BlackVerified Purchase
If I only needed one shoe this would have been a great product since one fit great and was very comfortable, unfortunately the other shoe seemed to have an obstruction in the toe under the steel toe. As a result the shoes are getting returned.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not true to size.

This shoe is not true to size. Size 9 was not the traditional size 9 but was more like a size 8.
Had to return shoes.

I am the general maintenance guy for a nursing center. I work 40hours weeks with a nice variety of sitting, standing, kneeling, and lying down to work under equipment. These shoes are comfortable and look good with jeans or carhartts. (I was hoping they would look good with Carhartt Shorts but my girlfriend quickly informed me they were not acceptable with shorts.

Purchased "Timberland PRO Men's Titan" for $107.74 on August 30, 2012

Within 3 months the toes were destroyed from when i was kneeling to work on something, I purchased some Gorilla brand Toe protectors to glue on and hide where the steel toes were easily visible. This solved my problem and i was quickly back to whistling while i work.

Less than 2 months later (Writing this review 6 months after purchase. The sole of my left shoe is completly split along the arch. If i step in a puddle or even walk in medium rain my socks get wet.

I ended up switching back to my "Hi-Tec Men's Altitude" boots which are cheaper and older. But still have far more life left than these do.

Purchased "Hi-Tec Men's Altitude" for $82.7 on March 17, 2011

Overall if you dont kneel or lie down on the floor for your job, or you want some slick looking boots to wear very seldomly, These are for you. If you want something that will last. Look elsewhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Replacement pair of Timberland PRO Safety Shoes
Reviewed in the United States on 17 March 2014
Size: 12 USColour: Haystack BrownVerified Purchase
I had a pair of these safety shoes for 6 years wearing them ~30-40% of working days. The original pair were comfortable so I bought a replacement pair of the exact same shoes with exactly the same size (12). I wore them around the house for a couple of hours and things were fine. The first trip to a customer site wearing them longerand I noticed my left big toe had some numbness at the end of the day. I wore them some more for full days and experienced a lot of numbness on my left toes. I don't know if I can keep wearing them.

I was extremely disappointed that I could order the same shoes at the same size and they don't fit the same. I missed the 30 day return guarantee as I didn't wear them to a work site right away.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad soles!
Reviewed in the United States on 12 March 2014
Size: 10 USColour: BlackVerified Purchase
Shoes themselves were good, comfortable at first but lost a little once I broke them in. However the soles of these shoes are garbage. Three months after I bought them the soles split on both shoes, they became horribly uncomfortable, and living in Minnesota I walk in a lot of snow so my feet were constantly soaked. Usually any shoes/boots I buy last me at least a year or more but I had to replace these after only four months. Do not recommend.
