The shoe is true to size, and looks really nice. But my husband wore it for one day, and moisture droplets caused the leather on the toe to bubble into dime-sized blisters. If it was normal water stains they could easily be wiped off and polished. But this left a raised texture that did not go away. I called Cole Haan to ask about that and they said it was not normal and I should return the product. We'll try to order these again one more time. But my husband has had leather dress shoes that lasted for years without this sort of reaction to water. Something is definitely wrong. I attached pictures to show what I mean - the circles you see are not normal dark water stains. They are raised bubbles. You can feel them.
I used these to replace the Cole Haan Caldwells that now seem to be discontinued. They were my go-to for about a decade. These shoes fit as expected if you have a history with Cole Haan. The built of the sole is not good for long periods of standing, leading to pain in various parts of the feet. I find this is caused by shifts in the inner sole lining which is disappointing considering the cost of the shoe. Outside of that, I find that each pair makes an annoying squeaking noise as I walk; again I think this is caused by the fact that the inner sole lining does not stay put. This is very disappointing considering the cost. I would not purchase again.
The half size up was too loose. The size I got fit like glove when I first put them on, but wearing it a whole day felt awful. Heel dug into the back of foot and had to wear a bandage on heel. Felt discomfort in my foot since shoe seemed too tight in the vamp only after a few hours of wear. Something didn't seem right and I didn't think this was a normal break in period so I returned the item.
I was in the market for a new pair of dress shoes, and my friend let me try his on, he had a pair of these and the moment I tried them on I fell in love with how comfortable they were, the only problem was they were incredibly squeaky. I though that was specific to the pair potentially due to their level of wear so I ordered a pair for myself and my father as a birthday present. Right out of the box, both of those pairs squeaked too! Frustrated, as I am a regular Cole Haan customer. This isn't just your light leather on leather dress show squeak. This is your "everybody within 50 feet of you can hear you approaching" squeak.
These shoes looked amazing out of the box and I had a lot of hope for them. They were stylish, elegant and were made of real leather.
To preface, this is all after ONE WEEK of wear:
QUALITY: The quality however is really quite terrible. These shoes look like they’ve had a year of hard wearing (and I always baby my shoes). The paint looks good at first but is cheap and scuffs easily, the rubber sole all around is starting to fray, creating loose fibres around the toe box and heel.
COMFORT: The fit is uncomfortable as it is long and thin and gives me blisters every time, even when worn in.
Value: These aren’t cheap but wear and as are comfortable as a pair of $25 shoes. Please save your money and invest in something better. I honestly wish I did.
I'm normally a fan of Cole Haans. Every dress shoe I have purchased in the past 5 years have been Cole Haans. But lately, like the pair I got, have shown diminishing quality. The pair I got, the first day I wore them, I noticed an unusual bubbling in the leather on the cap toe- See pictures. I'll be returning these and reconsidering my loyalty to Cole Haans (unfortunately)
Thought I loved these shoes and wanted to give it a 5 star rating. However, shortly after purchase the right heel developed a "squeak" that has since become the brunt of all sorts of jokes. Left shoe is fine. Seems to be getting worse as time progresses and is now at the point where I won't wear them.
I'm in the process of contacting ColeHaan...so we'll see. How they respond will determine whether I ever buy the brand again or not.
Description and "size chart" link say that these are 13W and the W is equivalent to a wide shoe. These aren't wide. I have other pairs of the same Cole Haan shoes that are actually wide and these are narrower both in the middle of the foot and in the toe box.
These shoes were almost as dysfunctional with my toes as me and my last ex-wife. They would never stop nagging my toes. AND I MEAN EVER. But I love them still. They hurt so bad, and yet... I can't live without them. Too many places seen, too many memories made, too many kids to put through college to live without these shoes. I thought putting space between us would be best, but now I realize, even though you put my toes through hell, you were the best thing that ever happened to me. COME BACK KAREN.
Fits and looks like another pair I have but the color doesn’t match the picture or the pair I already had. Also doesn’t match the shoe polish I purchased from the manufacturer for the other pair. Straight tan. Assume a knock off.
