Browns can be such a difficult color for men to use since it seems as if every designer has a different interpretation of what "dark brown" is. I thought I had hit a stroke of luck in finding these great looking oxfords on Amazon and from the pictures, thought that they would match my belt and watch perfectly, however upon unboxing them, I was disappointed to see that the shoes carried much more red in them than the product picture lead me to believe and I had no choice but to send them back – in truth, their coloring was closer to an oxblood or red-brown than a chocolate or wooden dark brown. I hope these pictures help better illustrate my point and can keep others from making my same mistake. Hopefully Cole Haan will put out a "browner" version soon as I still think that these will make a great pair of dress shoes.
Got these in Wide, and they were a bit smaller than expected. Not wide enough to fit comfortably, especially if you need to add an arch support/lift in them. Tryng to replace my Bostonians that have worn out after 5 years. Seem well made with good sturdy rubber soul. But they are too narrow for me, so I sent them back
If width isn't an issue for you - I'd recommend them
Although it fits perfectly, I had to return my first pair because one heel sat unevenly on the front of the heel from the rear of the heel on the other. Additionally; I must say, the insole is a bit hard. I was referred to cole haan by my podiatrist, but I do not believe I will purchase this pair again. Very nice design, too bad it kills my feet after a long shift on my feet.
Decent product but a little pricy. The quality of the shoe is great, but the breakin process is the most uncomfortable and longest period i've had for a quality shoe - expect blisters and discomfort for the first 2 weeks.
The shoes have lasted about a year now and still look pretty new from daily office use, however; they squeak every step since purchase so I wont be buying these again.
These shoes are fair at a discounted price, but not for the full price. The leather is very thin and the edges are so ragged that it looks like it was cut by a three year old with jagged scissors. The stitching is also erratic, great in some parts, but poorly stitched on other parts of the shoe. I like the color of the leather which is more reddish than brown. The color is a good match for the Allen Edmonds Merlot shoe polish, and they look much better after a good polish and wax. They are comfortable, but as with most dress shoes the arch support is minimal. The insoles are also a little difficult to remove if you want to use a different insole. The edging of the soles look nice, almost like you are wearing leather soled shoes. The rubber sole probably adds to the comfort and makes the shoe good for inclement weather without the appearance of a rubber sole.
The right shoe had obviously been worn several times due to the creases in the leather and was probably a return. These shoes were not new. They were supposed to be a wide fit, but they were even tighter than my normal shoes.
There is substantial heel lift. For a flat-footed walker like me, this causes me to strike heel first, a bit prematurely. In a week, I have already worn down a spot on the heel, as it takes a bit to get used to it. Its a bit narrow in front, but length was spot-on. Otherwise, great quality and look.
I liked the shoe but the more they were on, the more uncomfortable they felt. I would like to return them but there is no return form by the order. I took them to Kohls and they couldn't accept the return without the form.
They are too narrow and cause the arch support to be off center. Starts hurting the soles of your feet after a long days worth of walking in these shoes. My old Bostonion shoes were much more comfortable.
Decent quality, deduction for sloppy work on insole. Not properly glued down, returned one pair for same reason. Second pair still had same issue, however was not as bothersome. Would expect better manufacturing quality control of Cole Haan. Shoe made in India.
