I really love this knife. It Has a very sharp edge and cuts cleanly. I have used it to prep vegetables for soups & stews. I wash it right after use, dry it and return it to my magnetic knife strip. The edge is thin & sharp. I took away one star because of the packaging. It is awful and a nightmare to remove. I cut thru the thick plastic shrink wrap with sharp scissors & still had to keep cutting to remove the knife. I cut my finger on the plastic while doing this and it bled for an hour.
I own 2 knives from this company. I can tell you that after i bought the first one i immediately bought another one. They are this nice. The only issue i have with this knife is that my knuckes hit the cutting board. This was something i did not anticipate. I have no issues with my Nakiri. These knives are still a steal at these prices and would encourage everyone to take advantage. Just be aware tha the Sandoku has a narrowed profile and your grip could be affected.
Wow! Thanks for the encouraging review, all! This knife is exceptional & probably the only one I’ll use now! For those who don’t use sharp knives regularly, the Girl Scout or Boy Scout rule — only cut away from you and never in your palm! Be mindful of its sharpness!
For the price I think this is as quality as you can get. The blade comes razor sharp and looks to be quality steel. However it's only 3/4 tang and with this thin of a blade it's definitely noticeable for someone with a lot of knife experience. As long as you don't treat this knife as a work horse or beater it should last several years at least
Best knife I owned. Bought it January 2019 sharpened it a few times still cuts like it’s brand new. Indentation in the side keeps the onions and tomato from lifting up during cutting. Cons. Cut mysel while cleaning it.
It's a very light weight knife, but works fine. Sharp, easy to use, and the grooves help keep the food you're cutting from sticking. I bought it for my mother and it's become her go to knife. She likes how light it feels in her hand.
Great chefs knife, only complain is the weight distribution. While not terrible by any means, just not ideal by me. I prefer a heavier knife and this one is on the lighter side. Still a great knife for the price so hard to really downgrade it any further.
