Updated review: I purchased this kit again July 2019 and noticed the solution in the pink and blue bottle was a lot thicker than the one I purchased last year. After using this kit as instructed with the max time suggested, my lashes were barely curled. Not nearly as lifted as the older kit. I thought maybe it was user error so waited a few weeks when my lashes flattened out and tried it again, this time with an additional 2 minutes on one side and 5 on the other (to test). I also tried it on my brother, same disappointing results. I noticed the glue has improved, it seems a bit thinner so easier to apply and remove. The nourishing oil also works better and makes removing glue quicker. The silicone pads are better than any other ones I’ve tried. You could also reuse them. I suggest purchasing it separately then trying the other cheaper perming solutions and using a thick oil cleanser/balm to remove the residual glue. DHC oil cleanser works very well and doesn’t flatten out lashes. For glue, you could use pretty much any clear false lash glue. Skip this dolly lash lift kit, it’s not as good as it use to be and still about double the price of others sold on Amazon.
Old review: I love this kit! It took a while to get use to but now I can do both eyelashes within 45 minutes. I have used this kit about 6 times now and still have about half of the products left except the nourishing oil. I had to use a lot of it to get off the glue. The medium pads gave me naturally looking curls the large was too difficult to use. I also ordered a separate set of pads in small and tried it on my sibling who has shorter lashes and it worked very well if you have super thick, straight lashes that do not hold a curl well.
The glue bottle gets “glued” shut after a couple uses so just make sure to wipe the edge and it helps to wrap a rubber band around the cap or bottle to help with grip.
Use a lot of glue when sticking your lashes to the silicone. Once the pad is glued to your eyelid, put some glue on the pad and let it get tacky before flipping up lashes. Flip up a small section of lashes at a time so you have time to comb through with a toothpick. When your lashes are all flipped up, apply another coat of glue and wait until it dries before putting on the first solution. If it’s still tacky, the solution will make your lashes fall off the pad and it will be a sticky mess.
My lashes stayed curled for about 6 weeks and I have noticed losing less lashes since not using a curler.
I am surprised this product had mostly good reviews. I am an ex makeup artist, professionally trained and I had difficulty with this product. At first, it seemed pretty straight forward but the glue it comes with to adhere your lashes to the silicone pad doesnt stay on your lid well or to the lashes. I curled my lashes before applying to aid in the process. The glue seemed to work and I had them all nicely done on the pad but the second the 1st perming lotion(pink) touched my lashes the glue gives and the lashes fall. Applying more glue made matters worse. I read not to apply too much glue or you run into the perm lotion not sitting on the last because the glue can block it. Either way, with a dab a glue or lots, lashes dont stay on the pad. I attempt to still go thru the process of the 2nd (blue) setting lotion even though I struggled with the pink. Got thru that better. The 3rd step, the "conditioner" was the worst yet. Immediately stung my eyes like alcohol and I barely touched it with a qtip to my lash ends. Had to flush my eyes and lashes with warm water. Not pleasant. Ended up using good ol Vaseline to condition. Did it leave my lashes curled at the end? Sort of. I tried a second time a few weeks later to see if it was user error or the product. I am sure it was the product since I had the same slew of problems. Ended up returning.
I've ordered from this supplier before and love the Dolly Lash kit. It's typically easy to use (a little more difficult if using on yourself for obvious reasons) and great results! Upon repurchase, however, I was extremely surprised when a) the glue would not hold down the lashes no matter how many coats were applied and b) the oil's new burning sensation Neither of these problems had ever occurred before so I was a bit panicked throughout the process. After dealing with the glue coming off time and time again and then the oil burning, I was a bit paranoid. I'd never had any complaints with either of these solutions before. I decided to rub some of the oil onto the back of my hand to see if it burned. Not only did it IMMEDIATELY soak/dry on my skin, but upon closer inspection it smelled like rubbing alcohol. So I went back and checked the tiny bit I had left of the other kit I had purchased from the supplier and it was night and day. No alcohol smell in the old product and the oil sat on my skin the way any oil/moisturizer would before being rubbed in. They've either changed their formula to cut costs or are literally watering down the oil and glue. Either way, I'm extremely disappointed and would recommend buyers avoid this product until they fix this.
Glue does not stick. It barely sticks that I can pull it straight off. Doesnt matter I tried a lot of glue on the whole pad then a little glue doesn't work. I'd say save your money and buy a different lash lift kit because this ones unusable 👎 should not have to buy a seperate glue just to use the kit.
Girl listen to me, I thought it was a good idea too. It’s such a pain. Doesn’t work at all bro & if it does it stays for like 20 minutes. The products smell so chemically & you’re blind if you do both eyes at the same time bc your vision goes so blurry I thought I was blind at one point. I tried this multiple times bc I wanted it to work & one time when trying to get it off I ripped a whole chunk of my eyelashes out and I was so sad
I have super long lashes and I was REALLY excited to try this, especially after reading all the positive reviews. I am skilled with makeup and hair etc, I thought this would be moderately difficult but I am patient and figured it would take about and hour and a half. Honest, this was a disaster...the pads are HUGE, they are thick and heavy and hardly bend, the glue they supply would never hold the pad in place on your lid. I tried trimming them but then they weren't curved at all...The whole thing was a total nightmare - I was really disappointed. I need to return the kit. $44 is a lot for a total waste :(
Glue does not stick eyelashes well. Maybe half works and once perm solution is put on another 25% came off. I used a lot of glue and let tone pass, tried ASAP, tried holding it on for three minutes. Everything and it wouldn’t stick
