Terribly disappointed. This product taste terrible. It has a strong medicinal/chemical taste. I tasted the white and black bottles and both were inedible. Can you please advise how I can get a refund for this product?
Despite the impressive reviews, I was sceptical about these truffle oils, especially at this price. Glad to be proved very wrong - this is amazing taste and value. All 3 are distinctly different and I could not pick a favourite. Will buy again, and again, and again!
OK that 'harrumph' is actually a positive statement. Having previously been gifted a pack of these truffle oils, and having just finished the last of them I liberally put it about that I was 'out'. I then purchased some for those who enjoy such delicacies, and their delight on opening those gifts was unfeigned. I, however, received none! So, there I was preparing a pheasant Normandy for a load of people on New Year. This is a dish full of autumnal flavours and truffle lifts it to another level. I had to pop into Waitrose to get some of theirs. I used that and it was rubbish. Tasted/smelt of something I'd describe as not really truffle. And once it was in the dish not trace whatsoever was discernible, whereas just a dash of the oil from TruffleHunter will endow that dish with those delicious undertones you'd expect from truffle. I need some and I guess I'll just have to resort to buying it myself...... those ingrates. Harrumph!
Truffle oil is one of my favourite cooking aids. You only need a small amount to get that deep mushroom flavour, so it isn't that dear. I use it to improve soups and intensify the flavour in risotto, sauces and the like.
Gorgeous tasting oils, the English one is the least tasty. You don't need a lot, it is a lovely taste, delicious with crusty bread. It's difficult to judge how much to use in dishes as it could easily overpower so use sparingly and keep adding. Very fresh tasting in well presented bottles, you could even gift these individually they are lovely.
Bought as a prezzie for a relative who cooks a lot and likes to experiment. Came in a nice presentation box. Had no complaints so I assume they liked them enough. Can't comment on the taste as I never tried them.
