To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Came in today, fast shipping as always with Amazon. At the bottom for reference is a 6 in trachea I also bought off Amazon, but it was from "best buy bones." As you can tell all are 12 inches, some are slightly curves, so might actually be a little bit longer. These do have alot of fat on the outside, but it seems to be about the same as any other trachea I have purchased. These also stink, but smell is average conpared to others. Overall, great packaging (heavy duty thick ziploc), product on par with others, and you get more for your money with this. We plan on using my boyfriend's saw to cut these down a bit and I will update my review as to how they hold up to chewing once the monster gets a hold of them. Packaging says hormone, preservative, steroid, antibiotic, and chemical free-so that is a plus. I will probably keep in the freezer to help them last longer. Packaging does not exclusively say made in USA or sourced in USA, or anywhere else for that matter, so I will be contacting the company to verify before feeding.
My Bullmastiff pup (Charge aka Meatball) loves these things. They take him about 5-7 days to eat one. Usually, I give him 2-3 at a time. He then scatters them throughout the house and enjoys them whenever and wherever. Charge is approximately 130 lbs in the attached photo. (The pet bed he’s on is from Amazon and amazing too but that’s a whole different review.) You can see the nice size of the chews! If you have been on the fence, just try them! I bet you will be a return customer too. 😊
I’ve also ordered the turkey tendon treats from Top Dog and turkey tendon from another vendor. I liked their actual tendons better but to be honest, neither lasted nearly as long as these do. I also love that they are a natural form of glucosamine.
I’d give them 5 stars if their price point was a bit lower OR there was a frequent buyer discount. I myself, am not a fan of “subscribe & save”, especially when sourcing new products/vendors.
My 3-month old aggressive-chewer Lab puppy absolutely LOVES these. Currently I cut the 12” tracheas into 3 x 4” sections and feed 1 section a day. As my puppy gets bigger I can just cut them in half or feed whole.
It takes my 3-month old Lab puppy between 30 minutes to an hour to demolish a 4” section — it would take her a couple hours to finish off a whole 12” trachea.
I definitely recommend these trachea if you need a little peace and quiet from your pup.
Do watch out as feeding too many treats (including these tracheas) can cause some diarrhea.
They last a while. They are much cheaper if you buy the 12" and cut them in half, in comparison to buying 6" tracheas at most stores. The down side is they are covered in fat and give my dog horrible diarrhea.I may try to boil them to get more of the fat off; if that works I'll order more, otherwise I will find another supplier.
Both my dogs are power chewers, so the chews only lasted 12 minutes (I timed them). These are great for a treat, but don't expect them last very long. The other warning I will give is that they stink. On the plus side, they are fairly large. So they are perfect for large breeds.
Pretty much the same ones I get from the pet store, but cheaper to buy in bulk like this. Some of them were shorter than 12 inches, which was annoying, but I suppose my dog doesn't care.
Something to keep in mind: my dog is not an aggressive chewer, but she still goes through these pretty fast. They last her about 10-15 minutes. So if you're looking to distract your dog, this is not exactly the best option.
If you have a dog that is picky about their chewies, this is a good option. My dog refuses to eat rawhide (and she is allergic to artificial colors, preservatives and the like, so we can't try flavored), and with the meaty bones she ignores them after the meat is chewed off. She will only eat bully sticks and these.
My dogs love these!! I buy these long ones and cut them into 3-4" pieces, it's a great treat that they go crazy over...I highly recommend them but don't give them unsupervised, I have older dogs but I can see a younger dog trying to eat these fast but any chew type treat can be a choking hazard.
These chews are supposed to be dry. Instead they arrived with moisture inside the sealed bag. Upon opening the bag they smelled rancid and my dog wouldn’t touch it. And I’ve purchased these elsewhere and my dog has loved them.
