I have played this game for 160 hours. This game has so much content (not counting the expansion content included) that you will be consumed for what would feel like an eternity completing quests or simply just exploring. The game is artistically fantastic, the world is intense and believable. Dual handed combat (any combination of single handed sword/axe, shield, magic spell, or staff) allows for interesting combinations of attacks and strategy. The shouts are a gimmick, but there are a few that are particularly useful. AI is pathetic, and there are technical problems but they are almost forgivable considering the scale of the game.
This game does work on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, and works instantly with the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for PC. It does not work with the PS4 controller. The game performs better on Windows 8 than Windows 8.1, but it can be fixed on 8.1 by reducing some of the graphical settings.
This is a fun game but I'd love to see the graphics engine overhauled. Its clearly showing its age and needs major work. Thankfully there's plenty of mods from the community to do just that which can really revitalize the game. With solid hardware the game looks positively stunning and there is plenty to do in it. The controls for the game are initially rather awkward and take some major getting used to but once you do its not so bad.
I love the game. Performed better than I would have thought. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the installation took me 4 hours because I had to track down a steam installer that actually functioned. The one that comes on the disk is broken and they apparently haven't fixed that. I bought the disk thinking I would be able to install it easier that way, I was incorrect.
I would buy again, however Steam could handle the installation much better.
(edit- installing it on a new computer and installed steam before I tried to use the disk to install. Much, much easier. Game is almost done installing and I didn't have to download it this time =D)
I just purchased this game a month ago so I'm late to the party. I love open world games. The Fallout games are my favorites and Skyrim reminds me of Fallout but based in a different era. I'm almost 60 and retired so I'm probably not your typical PC gamer. I play consoles too. But I find it a great way to kill time especially in the colder months when I'm not fishing or riding my Harley. Anyway back to the game. There are so many quest, Skyrim potentially can keep me entertained for months since I don't rush through to the finish. I am finding loads of tips on various forums and YouTube. There are just so many angles to the quest it keeps you on your toes determining the best way to proceed.
I have an older Intel i5 2500K (OC'd to 4.5ghz) and a older GeFore 460 SE video card in a system I built. Even in my almost 4 year old system the game plays very smoothly and the graphics are better than great. I also like the fact that there is so much you can do via the PC console. I'm giving it 4 stars because on rare occasion the game locks up and I have to restart it. I'm not sure if that's a game quirk or a Steam issue.
I am absolutely in love with this game, and am so grateful for the price it was offered here. But i give it four stars because it came with a glitch in one of the expansion packs that could not even be fixed through any advice found on google. Oh well.
I hesitated for a long time because of Steam. I'm surprised that it was so easy to use. The price of this edition of the game made me decide to finally purchase it. I really like this game. It is buggy, but it is playable and the content is interesting and fun. I did not think anything could top The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This does not top Oblivion but it would be an equal if it were a little less buggy.
I got this at someones recommendations and couldn't figure out the controls on the computer, but my brother had an Xbox controller so I gave him the game and he is absolutely in love with it! Glad that someone got some use out of it anyways!
