To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
These are much poor quality than I was expecting. They're also much smaller than you'd think based on the product photo they use. The diameter of the bottles is only 2.25".
They're made of what feels like a very lightweight cheap plastic that feels like the same pliable grade they use for packaging toys - you know the type that feels so thin that you could rip it with your hands when you're opening up gifts at Christmas, but you end up needing to get the scissors to cut through. You're better off buying the Glad/Ziplock disposable containers at the grocery store, they're similar in quality.
The tops CONSTANTLY get stuck, and you basically need to keep a second jar nearby because the only reliable way to get them open when they're stuck, is to screw another one to the top for leverage.
Cleaning them also sucks, because they're so small they can't safely fit on the top rack of the dishwasher without falling through the holes. It sounds like you're being shot at when these fall through the cracks during the wash cycle and then you need to fish them out of the dishwasher tub at the end.
Also, the only way to get a handle for the system is to buy the "Starter Pack", which comes with four containers, two of which are so offensively small they can't hold anything.
And PRIME members don't make the mistake of thinking you can buy these and return them if they don't meet your needs. You can't return these after you determine that they're crap because they will deduct the return shipping cost, which is actually higher than the purchase price for this item.
I also own the "Pro Stack" version which is much better quality and doesn't get stuck. But generally, BlenderBottle has not figured out how to build a modular storage system that isn't painful to use.
I was going through the reviews and just noticed one by a Drew M. I don’t know what you’re talking about, Drew, but these are some very high-quality products. They seal very well, are made of incredibly durable, even noticeably weighty and dense, BPA free plastic. They stack together like a dream and, as hard as they can be to open WHEN YOU DO IT WRONG, they’re designed to open using the bottom of another bottle, which works beautifully. Maybe you forgot to read the only instruction card it comes with. As far as cleaning goes, this was very easy as well. I bought them because of how easy they are to clean, mix and match sizes, and how well they’ve been reportedly holding up for people. The “offensively small” containers are for people with some amount of dexterity, sure, and you need to have something small enough that you care about carrying with you before you’ll appreciate them, but not being capable of opening and cleaning these is not something you should be coming to the review section of this product for, it’s something you should be making an appointment about.
I’ve been looking for something to meet my extraordinarily specific criteria for a long long time and these really are it. I ordered two starter packs and can’t wait to get more.
