To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This film is wonderful, but everyone knows that. My family and I watch it every Christmas. The "missing" song that various reviewers have complained about IS included on the Region 1 DVD, but only if you watch the full screen version. The old original Region 1 DVD included the song as well, but the Region 2 versions (including the one that was part of a box set) do not - they are exclusively widescreen. By the way, please don't buy this or any other Region 1 DVD and then give it a bad review simply because you don't have the means to play it! P.S. The blu-ray (in a set) does not include Belle's song either, sadly
This is, without doubt, the very best version of Dickens' Christmas Carol that you'll find. The human actors perform the lines from the book word for word. I hadn't read the book until I'd seen the film, and was advised to by the Muppet at the end of the film, and never noticed this aspect in the film, but it is a brilliant touch and far better than any reworking of the lines to make them modern. A marvellou adaptation but I have to agree with the reviewers who gave it low ratings - removing Belle's song leaves a gap which is hard to recover from. I managed to buy a VHS copy from a charity shop. can't watch it because I don't have a video player any more, but at least I have it (having parted with my own VHS copy when I unwittingly bought the DVD). Don't try recording it off the TV either, that version's been cut too. All I can suggest is you watch the movie, pause at the appropriate place (we all know it), search on an on-line site which has it, watch the song, wipe eyes and return to the DVD. . .
I love this movie. It would have received five stars however some DVD genius decided to cut the lovely song 'The Love has Gone' which is actually essential to explaining why Scrooge is so mean. Poor show Disney! Other than that who can hate Kermit and the gang? I know I can't!
