Got a picky eater? One addicted to Pop Tarts and Hot Pockets? Want to switch them to home-made? Trying to do meal prep for budget or dietary reasons? Give this a try!
My daughter was running out of options for variety on the meal prep, and the grandchild was always asking for Hot Pockets or Pop Tarts. Popeye and Amazon to the rescue!!! Gave one of these to my daughter for her birthday, along with several recipes for everything from Empanadas to Pieroshki/Varenki. And she has been using them all! Some homemade pastry crust, use the back to cut out the size, place it in the well, lay in some filling, and press! First came Peanut Butter and Jelly, then some fresh apple slices with cinnamon and sugar, and she recently went all in with cabbage and bacon - her man said it reminded him of treats his Ukrainian Grandmother used to make! SCORE! More importantly - the grandchild now turns his nose up at the store bought variety, and wants to help make the pocket pies (both sweet and savory) to help Mom with the week's prep. As NorPro is a reliable brand, I'm expecting this one to be around for a long time...enjoy, kiddos. Can't wait to see what you come up with during the Holidays!
Just right for portion sizes because you know we always want to eat the whole pie. It makes anything with dough. Be inventive. No more trying to seal anything with a fork anymore. Just place a full piece of pastry dough over whole mini mold fill and close. You have the choice to fill it with anything you want. and it doesn't split open. I make extra and cook them 3/4 of the way through and freeze them. When I take them out I finish the cooking time and they taste just as good as if you baked them right away. I sometimes use meat and vegs. for the filling. I cook up what I want first then fill close and seal. Then I bake them until they are crispy. You can't go wrong, well maybe sometimes until you get the hang of it. It is sturdy but don't try over filling it. That's the trial an error part. It would make a perfect gift. If you give someone homemade made anything along with the Nopro then they will be hooked just as much as you will be. It's not just a gadget that you through into your cabinet it is a real useful addition to your kitchen.
I wanted to make apple handpies and found this product by Norpro. It arrived in a couple of days, packaged really well, no damage. Used it today to make the handlpies and loved it! I used a pizza wheel to cut the dough to the size of the press. I dabbed a little water on the edges of the dough and they sealed beautifully with a really good seal and no leakage. Just make sure to cut the steam vents in the top crust. I made designs with a paring knife. I also used an egg wash and sprinkled with coarse sugar. Heaven! I heartily recommend! Can't wait to make meat pies.
