Not that greater than using water with the additions of oils to detangle. For what its worth its not worth it and contains possibility sls!! No thanks over priced shea moisture for kids with sls. This came in poorly packaged and was leaking though i couldn't be bothered as it had taken long enough to arrive.
The bottles were not sealed and one had leaked all over the packaging. I hadn't used the coconut & hibiscus detangler from SheaMoisture before but it was VERY thin and watery compared the the coconut detangler SheaMoisture sells. The product I received does not have a strong smell. I had ordered the coconut & hibiscus shampoo and conditioner and curl smoothie for my daughters curly curly locks from a different Amazon seller and those products all had a pleasant strong smell and creamy thick consistency. I think I would order this detangler again but not from OxKom. I'd order from a different seller and give the product another chance because I love the rest of this line!
So this spray claims to do 3 things: stop frizz, moisturize, and detangle. Lies. It only manages to detangle (I've only tried it on normal knotted hair. I don't know how it would perform on matted hair). I have 3b, medium density, low porosity, medium thickness, armpit-length hair. I spray the detangler, detangle my hair, but then start feeling it dry and frizz up not even 2 minutes later. I add different conditioners and stylers on top to try to tame it and it has limited success in moisturizing but still fails at controlling the frizz.
It might be the coconut that is drying it out/making it feel hard since my hair is low porosity, so I wouldn't complain if putting an added conditioner would counteract that. But no. The frizziness is what ruins this for me. How can a product claiming to be anti-frizz make your hair more frizzy after application than before? Insanity. I won't be trying it again.
Ok so I am a big fan of Shea moisture products since I went natural. I have a 9 month old baby boy. My first child and knew I wanted to use the same brand in his hair. So was excited to try this in his hair. But I must say I am disappointed in this product. This is the second Shea moisture children’s hair product that has disappointed me. It’s suppose to help detangle hair but it doesn’t do a job any better than just simply spraying hair with water to help detangle hair. It feels as if it doesn’t penetrate into his hair and it does not leave his hair moisturized at all. I think I will just stick to using natural aloe Vera gel to help add moisture to his hair and to help detangle it
I had high hopes but it leaves a residue and hair feels sticky with this product. Yuck! I wanted my daughter's hair to feel soft and silky but this did not do it. In the end, I poured 2/3 into another bottle and diluted the remaining 1/3 with water and this seems fine. It still detangles without weighing my little girls' curls down or leaving a residue. Diluted works much better. I will probably buy it again since there are not many options in the "natural detangler" category! Sigh.
I like Shea Moisture products but like with many brands..sometimes some things are a swing and a miss. This was insanely sticky and didn't help detangle one of my daughter's hair. Maybe because her hair is coily curls as opposed to her sister's bouncy curls...but either way....so so so sticky.
