SCARY! I bought several. Expiration date on boxes is August 1 2018 - about 3 weeks from now. Boxes were open and worn - beat up - and the clear safety seals on boxes were peeled off and soiled. White stickers had been manually pasted on box ends by the seller to hide original expiration dates but when you peel them back, you can see the expiration printed on the boxes is in 3 weeks. (Other eye products I have bought on Amazon have 3 years before expiration.) THIS IS OLD OLD PRODUCT - DO NOT BUY IT. You do not know how this was stored. Does not look safe to use. YOUR EYES ARE IMPORTANT. WHAT A RIPOFF.
This is the first eye ointment I have used that doesn't burn my eyes or make my vision super blurry. This magic ointment lubricates my eyes overnight with no reapplying (my eyelids start to stick together in REM sleep around 3-4 AM). I have tried all the major artificial tears ointments in the past, and any of the generic ones I can find. Systane, Refresh, Major, the gels and the ointments. They have all either burned my eyes, or made them so goopy I couldn't see out of. Not only is this ointment perfect, it is cheap. Totally worth the price to get a full night's sleep.
The one downside: the application from the metal tube takes some practice. I have to place it so that the ointment immediately hits my eyelid, otherwise the ointment curls back on itself.
Good-bye dry eyes! This is miraculous stuff!!! I was a certified optician for 7 years and this wasn't available way back then. Nothing I've used in 20 years has come close to this! Fabulous for people with really dry eyes!
I don't often write negative reviews, and I know many in the dry eye community love the Retaine products, but this nighttime gel is so thick (like the consistency of thick Vaseline) that it doesn't really soothe my dry eyes at night. First, it's not the easiest to put in - instead of dropping it onto your eye, you line the lower inner lid with it. As soon as I blink, it feels like a coating of thick Vaseline over my eye. But the coating isn't very moist or soothing. When I use it, I still wake up with my eyes feeling dry and stuck and have to put other drops in. I'd even say regular daytime drops work better than this gel. I find the Systane nighttime gel or the preservative-free Refresh Plus drops to be much better at keeping my eyes comfortable through the night. Would not buy this again. Another alternative I've seen optometrists recommend is the preservative-free Refresh Celluvisc.
this product has been repackaged in a metal container that oozes the gel out upon opening. I am not able to control the volume and much is wasted. I want the old plastic tube back and will be purchasing locally so I can obtain the packaging I desire.
I have tried every night time gel on the market. This one does the best for me. It's preservative free which makes my eyes less irritating. I mainly use it in my eye that has had several surgeries. I line my eyelid with this gel every night before going asleep. The tube is small but I consistently get 3 months out of each tube. Gel drops do not compare to this.
I have severely dry eyes. I saw all these other reviews saying how wonderful these drops are, so I bought them. They did not work at all!!! I would not suggest buying them. I put them in my eyes and nothing! I still had dry eyes. I do not recommend this product!
This ointment has helped my mom’s eyes to not be so painful since she began using it every night before going to sleep. I gave it 4 stars for value purely because it is very expensive for what you get. It seems to be one of the better products of this kind on the market, at least of the ones we have tried.
I was recommended this product for dry eye by my optometrist. I’m not a fan of it. It puts a film over my eyes, even wearing it while I sleep, when I wake the next morning it’s still very thick on my eyes. I have a hard time getting back to normal vision for a couple hours after I wake up.
