We first got tuned into Nubian Heritage's soap in our local supermarket. They often sell out, and only have two scent types -- African Black Soap, and Lemongrass & Tea Tree.
A quick Amazon search later reveals a wide world of different formulations -- so far, we have not encountered one that we dislike.
All of them are very kind on my sensitive skin, and don't leave fragrance behind after a shower scrub. I swear that the African Black Soap formula causes my skin to clear up better than anything, and transmutes the spouse's natural scent subtly in a very appealing way.
The bars lather well, but also last a long time for a luxury product. They are solid-sized and comfortable to hold -- the slight concavity in one side, married with the slight convexity in the other, makes smooshing the old tiny slivers into the new ones really easy.
The only soap I've found to rival the quality, and would say is equal in my opinion, is the olive-oil soaps I bought in the Parisian markets. And those cannot compete in price, nor in supporting local businesses.
We highly recommend these soaps -- if you haven't tried any of this line before, I suggest the African Black Soap as a mild baseline. If you like more scent, we keep joking about taking a bite out of the Mango Butter bars, as they smell so good.
Ingredients have changed, no longer a safe natural product. It also smells very strong of perfume. I couldn't even be in the same room with this stuff. I had to wrap it up, as it was giving me a headache. I will return and never use Nubian again.
Do far I have used 3 different bars: olive oil and green tea, blackseed and honey, and the wildflower one. Olive oil is wonderfully hydrating, while the blackseed seems to be more cleansing and tightening. The wildflower bar smells lovely and does well on regular type skin.
This brand is the only bar soap I've bought since this company first came to Chicago. The ingredients, the scents, the feel are wonderful, and they're the next best thing to making my own soap. Find your formula and treat yourself.
