I was hoping this would be a less expensive version of WEN cleansing conditioner. Unfortunately, it is nothing like it. It has a much thinner consistency than Wen. The first time I used it, I thought, well, maybe it's not so bad, so I used it a second time. It really wasn't conditioning my hair at all. Then the third time it made my hair feel like straw and it was almost impossible to comb. A few weeks later I thought I would give it another chance. I really shouldn't have. Even while washing it made my hair so tangled and dry. I ripped out a lot of hair that day, just trying to get a comb through my wet hair. I will never use it again.
I loved the idea of this product, and when I received it, the smell was quite pleasant. I wasn't surprised that it didn't really foam up like a typical shampoo - as homemade shampoos don't tend to foam, either. In the shower, my hair felt nice and soft without feeling like I needed to condition it. It was when I started to dry my hair that the problems arose. I don't have a problem with dandruff, and I don't use a lot of leave-in or spray-on hair products, but this product made me look like I had a wicked case of dandruff or had sunburned my head and it was peeling! I wrote it off to it being a new product and maybe - just maybe - it was indeed stripping off any residues that other hair-care products left behind that I didn't notice. I tried using it for a week straight, and still had flaky bits. I don't know if it was bits within the product itself or if it did a weird reaction to my skin, but I finally ended up using it as a shave cream. It was only okay even at that. Alas, I won't be buying it again.
I found this product late last year at a Marshall's department store and fell in love!
When I ran out, of course, I went back to the store to repurchase. No luck. I tried every other store that sells Renpure products searching but to no avail. Finally I turned to Amazon knowing I would find it and, sure enough, I did!
Only, I didn't. While everything on the outside looks exactly like what I previously purchased, we all know that it's what's on the inside that counts.
And what's inside this bottle is NOT what I got from Marshall's last year. It's thin and leaves my hair far more unpleasant than the store bought stuff.
Long story short, if you love this product, don't buy THIS product.
If I could rate zero stars, I would. I heard great things about this product from family members, but I can't use it. It literally causes my hair to fall out. I have long, course thick hair and have never had any problems with past products. Every time I would use this cowash, I would have a couple hand fills of hair fall out. Maybe it's just me, but I definitely don't recommend this product. I can't use the Renpure leave in conditioner either. It causes my entire scalp to burn.
I have been using WEN for about a decade. It's pricey and it's that "club" buying experience, so when I read a report that suggested giving Renpure a try for curly hair, I thought why not? At 1/3 the price, it was a smart swap. WRONG. My hair, which has been lovely and low maintenance since switching to WEN, feels like straw. It's horrible in the shower and horrible after the shower. I should have just bought my usual WEN and threw $13 in the toilet.
This product leaves your hair smelling like it's been burned, that awful burnt smell. Which only gets stronger after washing hair, especially in the heat of Summer. That's what I get for trying to economize. I tried a product similar however, it is more expensive. The old adage, you get what you pay for sure applies here. This product is weird going on, like cow snot and the funky fragrance just gets stronger as the day goes on.
I was hopeful this product was a great find after reading some of the reviews, however this product did not work for my hair. It left it dryer than before, a lot of hair fell out, and smells awful. There is nothing coconut about it. It smelled like fake perfume you get when your little. I like Renpure products in general, but this is a huuuuuuuge fail. For those who swear it's just like Wen ..... You're trippin. It's nothing like Wen.
Read the 1 star reviews - believe them. This product is nothing like WEN. It's extremely watery, and left my hair feeling dry and sticky at the same time. It was impossible to comb out after using this product. I could not have been more disappointed and the nearly full bottle is going directly in the trash.
I have used other Curly Girl recommended products with success, but this did NOT work at all for me and left my hair in a frizzy straw like mess. There is no way to connect with the company, get a return or replacement product. I will not buy this again and probably nothing else from this company.
