I needed to use a grinder to cut a bracket off of the underside of my truck so I was going to use these magnets to hold a fireproof blanket up to prevent any sparks from becoming a hazard. The magnets just aren't strong enough to do that but I don't blame the product because the ad says the pull strength is 12 lbs and that's probably accurate. I'm not bashing the product, I'm just posting this message so that anyone trying to use them to hold up anything heavy would see this and buy stronger magnets for their purpose.
These things are a life saver when welding up parts to motorcycle frames. You can get some great angles out of these to get your parts in the right spot to be tack welded. Other people have said don't get them too hot while welding or the magnets will go bad. I haven't experienced this yet. I try to do quick tack welds, let them cool down and move on to the next tack to not overheat the magnets.
A welcomed addition to any steel fabricators arsenal. Just keep in mind these are not designed to hold up large and heavy piece's of iron. Works superbly for holding up square tubing, pipe, brackets. And remember heat destroys magnets so be careful when fitting up and tack welding projects.
